I just wanted to say THANK YOU to BioWare for the first official update to KotOR2 since 2005.

That one is a OBSIDIAN game... not BioWare...

I think it might just be a "Steam first" thing.  There were hints that GoG would get the update.

In terms of original development, sure.  This update was coded by Aspyr.  Anyhow, I thought BioWare owned the intellectual property, and thus had control over if/when stuff like this happened…?  Hm, the Steam store page doesn't mention them at all, okay, looks like I was incorrect!  And the person from Aspyr who was talking about this mentioned the involvement of Disney Interactive, so maybe those are the folks I should really be thanking.

But anyhow, I'm still glad it happened, and folks here will probably have some interest in it.

I agree... in the end, it is a flawed game, but still it is a great game... and I REALLY hope they do something like this with KOTOR1...

I wasn't very optimistic about that until I looked at the Steam store page for both games.

Before the update, KotOR2: PC version by Obsidian, Mac version by Aspyr, publisher Disney Interactive.

After the update, KOTOR2: original PC version by Obsidian, PC version update, Mac version, and Linux version by Aspyr, publisher Disney Interactive (among others)

Today, KotOR: PC version by BioWare, Mac version by Aspyr, publisher Disney Interactive (among others)

So yeah, I think there actually is a chance!

I hope those "hints" pan out :)

So I bought KOTOR 2 on steam because of the big update, is the restored content mod part of that update or do I need to download that separately? In other words now that I have the game and that update do I also have the restored content?

Definitely going to play this again, yearrrrs after the first time (I'm not sure if I even finished it), and now with the Restoration Mod.

Ugh, Paragus. ZZZZZ.

You need to download it separately in the Workshop section.

1. Get game

2. Get it updated

3. Go to Workshop and install your mod

Between:

1. SWTOR SOR expansion KOTFE announcement and news (with Disney's say required)

2. KOTOR2 update (with Disney's permission involved)

3. Theories about SW:VII film (is Revan or at least lore about him involved?)

4. Rumors of another SW game being developed by Bioware (we won't get it for years from now, but still... could it be a KOTOR3? Or pretty much?)

... is Disney making the KOTOR-verse increasingly part of the new-canon? (Even if not directly or literally, it could still be essentially relevant to things going forward.)

We'll have to see.

I very briefly checked out the update with controller support and it was pretty good!
