First of all good evening every one.

I'm a real late comer to multiplayer. Started playing two months ago and I'm totally hooked. Lately been grinding through some beginner challenges. Anyway.....

My son is seven. He solos silver with the Juggernaut. Ok, we specced him all shields and damage reduction but any how.

What do you all think? Is seven too young to play mp?

I don't really think of it as a kids' game, but he's not going to see anything in multiplayer that he hasn't already seen if he can solo silver with a juggernaut.

How dare you expose a child to such violence they are delicate flowers that must be sheltered from everything!

That was meant as a joke op. In seriousness to your question as long as you think you're kid is mature enough for the simulated violence then I don't think there's a problem with letting them play. Worse issue will be the holier than thou art pricks that want to swear into the mic or try to shame other players for how they do things for which a mute player button works wonders.

I assume most Platinum pugs are seven years old anyway. Your kid already sounds like he's better than most of those, bring him up to at least Gold.

I'm twenty-something and those Banshees still haunt my dreams, I can't imagine what your poor son must be going through.

In all seriousness, the MP isn't as bad as other stuff that people allow their children to play these days; not so graphic violence, not much in the way of nudity and, so long as you mute the chat, there won't be any swearing. I can't see why you shouldn't let him play if he already does solos anyway.

Other than Reapers having Nudity I see no reason why a 7 year old cannot play ME3 MP. Gold/Platinum will be a bit too much but Bronze/Silver should be fine.

Too young? Probably but he's going to be exposed to worse daily on TV or the internet. Just so long as he can differentiate between shooting things on video game being cool and shooting things in real life not cool. Some kids struggle with the fantasy reality thing.

Just keep him away from the SP forums, that stuff will mess him up.

I was watching movies like Poltergeist & Revenge of the Nerds when I was 5. My parents were cool enough to let me figure out things for myself  ( Look how I turned out, right? ) ME3 MP is G rated in comparison...just mute his mic, block messages..Let him kill stuff with the rest of the lot. He would probably like seeing the other kinds of characters out there on the battlefield too.

Ok, thanks for your input gentlemen. I wouldn't let him play if I thought it would mess him up.
It's fun watching him play, a kit like Juggernaut is great for kids. Something real fast and squishy like the Fury on the other hand...
Really I'm just cleverly building an alibi here. You ever see a Juggernaut under my account pugging and screwing up royally IT'S NOT ME. It's the kid.

You're a good daddy.

Honestly, most of us have the maturity of a seven year old.  You might need to mute everyone though.  In my experience, people use some colorful and mature (debatable) language liberally over the mic.

If your son knows how to talk smack, then it would be great if you could record yourself playing while he talked smack to the other players.

"OHHHHhh you just got Scoreboarded by a seven year old!  Eat it, creampuff!  Posting this game on the BSN, yo!  My daddy told me noobs existed, but I thought they were rarer than unicorns until I met you, SON!  Speaking of unicorns, which MLP pony is your favorite?  I figure you like MLP, since it's as close to MLG as you'll get!  OHHH SNAP!  No I di'nt!  Oh yes.  I'm afraid I di'id.

Uh oh, it's nap time.  Cya guys!  GG no RE!"

Welcome to BSN!

Personally I'd set the age limit for the PUGgernaut for a 110, I think that kit is a crime against the BSN MP Master Race.

Secondly, my only objection is that you don't let him act his age in a lobby. That too much to ask?

You're making him a puggernaut from such a young age?

You're teaching him how to be a GIANT laz0r shooting ROBOT? How nice of you!

I remember playing DOOM as a child when it was initially released (of course it wasn't because my parents let me, but rather because I was able to download it from a bulletin board system).

Anyways, DOOM is waaaay worse IMO.  ME3MP is not overly gory, and the enemies are honestly more laughable then they are scary IMO.

My five-year old plays on my account every now and then.  The only real concern, as JC mentioned, is the monitoring of the voice channel for inappropriate language.

The kid gets to be a giant laser-shooting robot. I think we're overlooking the fact that at age seven, half of us probably wanted to grow up to be giant laser-shooting robots!

This is an excellent opportunity to teach your boy to ignore people who try to tell him he's having the wrong kind of fun.

I wanted to be Godzilla. Level cities and become a metaphor for the dangers of nuclear weapons.
