I'd let a 7 year old kid play....but if he wants to play with me I'd tell him to go kick rocks.  It's bad enough carrying PUGs who are my age.

Just keep him away from the ME:A forums, that stuff will mess him up.

I find the Cerberus headshot animation rather graphic myself, so I'd stick to fighting Geth, Reapers and Collectors or just using projectile weapons. That's just me, though.

My 8 year old nephew plays GTA IV (he does not comprehend half of the dialogues, so it's fine). :D

I see no problem letting your 7 year old son play ME3MP.

i mpretty sure it s not so good to be exposed to such a strong rythm with high immersion into kiling hordes of aliens @ 7.

DOnt be surprised if he cant pay attention more than 5' to an intellectual matter if he plays a lot of stuff like this

Mp violence is still quite impressive. Lol at nudity problem :D, i never got why nudity should nt be presented to children even outside of those stupid frigid muricans ?

I think it's like anything else as long as you spend time with your kid and involve yourself with what they're interested in that things will generally turn out okay. A lot of the crap about video games foster violence in kids is because that is the kid's only involvement because the parents ignore them or don't bother to understand what their kids are doing. The politically correct crowd will preach that video games teach violence as an answer to life's problems; well no more so than the daily news or cable tv programs do honestly. I think it's just involving yourself in your kid's life until you understand that they're prepared to be independent. Ugh ****, I sound like Dr Phil.

Other than Reapers having Nudity I see no reason why a 7 year old cannot play ME3 MP. Gold/Platinum will be a bit too much but Bronze/Silver should be fine.

Why would nudity bother a 7-year old?

You sure about that? Kids these days have seen and heard it all by the age of 7.

The purpose of playing computer games is to learn the language and have fun at the same time.

The more he understands, the better.

There was something of a landmark study from Indiana University that suggested neurological and cognitive change brought on by reactive, violent video games. I'm not sure about the methodology. It's not unreasonable to hypothesize that hours and hours of violent images (and reacting to simulated threat) would have some sort of effect. It may be more popular to jump to a conclusion (Video games cause murder!) or to dismiss a study by mischaracterizing its conclusion (Video games cause murder?), but it's hard to imagine that large amounts of anything thrown at a brain (particularly one in development) won't have some effect.

Throw that out the window.  Rubbish studies.  They never look at the big picture.  There's no money to be made from these studies if you can come to a definite conclusion.  That's why they are always open-ended.  More money for further testing is needed.  Just like the never-ending study of the viscosity of ketchup.  I can test that **** in 5 minutes.  The government's supported testing has been nonstop for over a decade.  Really?!!

Bad parenting allows an absorbent amount of video games and other useless forms of activity.  Bad parenting is also the cause of poor morals and antisocial activities in children.  Don't blame the game.  Blame the horse **** upbringing.  Parenting is a full time job, but many people don't understand this idea.  If your kid grows up to be an ass-hole or a serial killer... It's your failure as a parent.  Look at yourself in the mirror and admit you're an idiot.  Don't blame a video game because you were too lazy to be a parent and care.

What one should be concerned about is the development of ADD from video games.  That **** is real...

First of all good evening every one.

I'm a real late comer to multiplayer. Started playing two months ago and I'm totally hooked. Lately been grinding through some beginner challenges. Anyway.....

My son is seven. He solos silver with the Juggernaut. Ok, we specced him all shields and damage reduction but any how.

What do you all think? Is seven too young to play mp?

If he can handle simulated violence and remember the golden words 'it's just a game', he's fine.

The XBL crowd though... yeah... I'd try not to expose him to those ruffians and scoundrels.

When I was seven I was being taught how to play DOOM, C&C Red Alert, and Settlers 2 on PeeSeaMasterBaits by my big brother. We had to find something else to do after our mum found out about the secret karate lessons going on in the kitchen. It wasn't long after that that my brothers got me drunk for the first time...

My 10 year old daughter played her first MP match recently (Jugger Nuggss was kind enough to carry her through Bronze - her entire approach on SP is to just stand there while Garrus does all the work, this time it was stand there while the smexy Pyro   does all the work). She gave up after that one match; I think the speed of the combat scared her a bit, she's used to Skyrim where she can take everything in her stride.

I have a brilliant list of texts from her on my phone:

CAN I PLAY SKYRIM PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?
CAN I PLAY TEH HOBBIT INSTEAD???

YOU'RE AWESOME

CAN I GO ON THE LAPTOP

CAN I PLAY ANY OTHER GAME

and about 20 more all sent in the space of about two minutes. That's why her number is stored under 'Big Annoying Thing'. I'm such a great mum.

I think the potential usefulness in the Indiana study (and perhaps others in the same vein) is that it really wasn't trying to find some cause for aberrant behavior--it was just looking to see if there appeared to be any neurological effect from violent video games that could be observed and measured. There were no conclusions about school shootings or anything like that (although people eager to see that connection might have used it that way).

My kids watch me play. There isn't bad language, it 'cartoony' enough for them to know its not real, and they learn valuable life skills such as

'STOP WHINING'

and

'FOR TUCHANKA'

:D

I was under the impression that most pugs were 7 year olds, anyway. I was probably better at games when I was 7 (even though I hadn't played any yet) than most of the people I run into.

If I had quarian kids I would certainly teach them about how to quarian properly at a young age. Can't send them off to Pilgrimage without useful knowlege like what to do when your soup is threatened by enemy spinach, or how many missiles to use when you run into geth primes (all of them).

Just a quick follow-up here people...
The young man quickly grew tired of Juggs' slow movement so lately he's been learning some of the Krogans (Shaman, Kroguard and Soldier) and flamer GT. Basically anything that's tanky and cool to look at. Manly groans and shouts seem to be a plus also. Any suggestions?

I thought this game and forum was only suited for mature 17 and up age group. Yet despite this, we're all forced to behave like a Kindergarden Cop in Kindergarden.
