Is level 10 too early to fight Flemeth?

So, is it doable or just not worth trying right now?

Managed it just fine around that level - on my Xth DA:O playthrough I realised how Force Field makes every dragon maw-opening encounter a piece of cake. So just slap that on one of your mages and I think you're good to go.

Flemeth isn't like the dragons in DAI, which only occasionally attack with their hind legs or do a tail sweep.
She repels melee attacks relentlessly. Shale couldn't stay 5 seconds without getting knocked down again.

If it's too hard you don't have to fight Flemeth to romance Morrigan. There should be a dialogue option to let Flemeth leave and then you can ransack the hut.
Otherwise for my melee I kept a healer on them and made sure they were behind her the whole time save for my tank.

How do I get my melee companion to be functional at all?

That's why I mentioned Force Field.
When she starts trashing a melee, just slap that on him and he's all safe. The duration is a bit longish and the melee can't do any damage, but he also doesn't TAKE any. Force Field takes a lot of pressure from your healer and lets you control the battlefield a bit better.

I don't have that, sadly.
Against high dragons, using ranged weapons is more effective that early into the game. Unless you have one or more Force Fields and good healing means, try replacing Shale with a warrior with Taunt, equip him/her with a bow and apply a Greater Warmth Balm. As the battle commences, bring this warrior near the dragon, use Taunt and immediately move just out of melee range; not too far away though otherwise Flemeth will use Buffet to pull you in. Having proceeded thus, she'll only be able to use her fire attacks on the warrior; keeping him/her alive shouldn't be difficult for a competent healer. It shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes for the three archers to end the battle.
Flemeth still would use fire attacks, though. But having everyone in the team able to attack uninterrupted should help.
By the way, does DAO have anything like DAI's tactical camera?

Take Wynne, Leliana (providing you made her an archer) and Shale (with her Stone Aura tree maxed). Have her activate that right at the start of the fight and use Wynne to support her whenever her HP gets too low. You and Leliana can focus taking down Flemeth.
EDIT: This obviously works best if your warden is ranged or a mage or you wont get the benefit of Shale's Stone Aura. If you're on PC then there's a mod that adds in Awakening's Manual of Focus which you can use to reset your skill points.

Haven't played Inquisition yet, so don't have a fair idea about it's tactical cam, but Origins do have an iso-cam in the PC version, which can be activated by zooming out to the max.

defeated her around that level, my warden TH warrior kept her attention with taunt, brought Wynne,Zevran and Leliana.
There is a spot i stationed Leliana and flemeth couldn't reach here, just at the edge of the lake behind her hut.
If you're playing on nightmare or hard you can always lower the difficulty.

Yes, the Tac cam in DA:O is extremely useful compared with DAI

But do go on. How do I use this tac cam, exactly? It never came up when I messed around with the control buttons.
Unless you're referring to tactic settings.

Also DA:O tac cam > DA:I. It's a fact.

You know, players from every fandom have this strange compulsion for bringing VS debates into everything.
But not here. No, sir. Take it elsewhere.

Haha! These guys are only trying to help - Chill!
I don't think the tactical camera (or even any zoom) is available on console versions - just PC. ![]()

Damn you, master race.
Your turn will come someday.
Never! I would strongly suggest getting the Ultimate Edition for PC, much better gameplay (not just the camera)
AND... with the addition of Mods, replayability is greatly improved (I'm on 30+ playthroughs)
You can pick up a new copy very cheaply on Amazon (make sure it is new for DLCs!)
