That's my theory (Lol just kidding) ^^^

But really do you guys have any theories about what "Ghost Riders in the Sky" Could mean in Mass Effect: Andromeda? I think one of the developers said it has significant meaning in the storyline of the game.

Thoughts about GHOST RIDER IN THE SKY in Andromeda?

My primary reasoning on why that probably wont be the story they choose is twofold: It would be a recycling of the dark energy plot, at least the theme of it, and a long dead race that no longer exists is basically the Protheans 2.0.

Additionally, there will need to be some sort of antagonist species beyond just typical mooks like the Khet probably will be. My guess is, the Remnant will be that antagonist species. And one of the very first leaks described concept art for a hyperadvanced, synthetic looking species that was truly alien in appearance. That was probably an early Remnant concept art, I would guess.

I imagine the story will go like this: The ark probably gets to Andromeda via the discovery of Remnant tech in the Milky Way - be it wormhole tech, whatever doesn't matter. They probably knew of this for years, but did not figure out how to work it until tue Reaper War. Convenient, yes, but probably necessary to link the two stories. The species of the Milky Way then assume that the Remnant were benevolent, and placed this technology in the Milky Way to allow species of the Milky Way a way to safely escape the harvest.

Once in Andromeda, they discover more Remnant ruins, and run into conflict with native species that want the same tech. That will be a major part of the game. But with time, as the main characters learn more about the Remnant, they discover that they have not vanished...but have been slumbering, awaiting.

Would be my guess. Cliche Sci FI story - right up Bioware's alley. Just like moving the setting to Andromeda in the first place, I would find this to be very predictable.

why is it every time we talk about these "explorations" and "lost civilization" being awakend and will doom us all reminds me so much about this game:

Well, both games have the same lead writer.

correct me if I am wrong but the lead writer from Halo just started with 4 right? I am referring to the entire series of Halo since combat evolved. It was basically a struggle of humanity against the covenant and freaking ancient tech being used as a worshiping/WMD tools which lead to the eventual awakening of the forerunners oh the memories... what a game... what a game. Now if it only gets re-released on PC that would be great.

Ghost Riders in the Sky, funnily, is about the Wild Hunt (which Witcher uses). Just an American West spin on it.

I can't imagine that in particular having anything to do with Mass Effect though.

There are a lot of fans that think Bioware should look to CDPR for various things. I wonder if using the same myth was what they had in mind. :P

Yes, I meant the lead writer for Halo 4 is now the lead writer for Mass Effect: Andromeda.

I've seen some similarities between the Halo franchise and where Bioware may be taking Mass Effect too.

I don't know if I should be happy or worried about that last sentence though. Halo is Halo for being Halo... this is indeed a bold step for Mass Effect.

It's a nice song.

I think people are making too big of a deal about it.

It is actually worth having a discussion about this because Yanick Roy said, when asked to change the music from the trailer (wtf, who asks to change a trailer?),...

Yanick Roy ‏@YanickRRoy
No, sorry, because there are very good reasons for that choice of song for the trailer that should become clear later on.

It will have nothing to do with Shepard.

From Wikipaedia...

The song tells a folk tale of a cowboy who has a vision of red-eyed, steel-hooved cattle thundering across the sky, being chased by the spirits of damned cowboys. One warns him that if he does not change his ways, he will be doomed to join them, forever "trying to catch the Devil's herd across these endless skies".

There is obviously a moral message to the song with a sense of karma. Presumably this will translate into MEA to be searching for something (remnant technology) with great risks associated with finding it and using it, likely for no good depending on exactly how relevant the song is. It also probably symbolizes the frontier nature of Andromeda and how "we" are the outsiders.

Oh joy well that puts my hype way down love the song but no not interested in that kind of story goodbye BSN. I may be back when I hear more about it but oh well.

You also have to admit it fits the look of that planet they went to.

I kind of like that piece of Music, I cheked out some other Jhony Cash stuff but wasn't as impressed. Maybe the trailer setting enhanced it, but even without it, the whole thing was pretty nice. I'm not so sure about the theme of the lyrics, but the complete package was pretty good in this case.

My interest in Music is usualy limited, but I kind of like that one.

Remember, the Rachni were found because salarians were opening Relays without knowing what they lead to. The First Contact War started because humans were activating dormant relays without knowing where they led and what they might unleash.

The idea of the Khet being good guys who are trying to stop us from reawakening some ancient evil actually sounds pretty cool to me. At the end of the game we unleash some horrible evil on the Andromeda galaxy and learn we were the bad guys the entire game. I think that would make for a cool game.

Bioware/EA have been making games for a long time...., these are not newby's making a game...,you can bet that there IS a reason they chose THAT particular song.

Even if there was no reason, I think it fits the "boogy man" idea perfectly.., after all isn't that what the collectors were. (when you go to Horizon, the Mechanic tells you he thought the collectors were stories made up by the Alliance).

I like the song and think it fits the trailer perfectly...., only time will tell.

Cheers

Maybe we wil face lifeforms that are neither organic or synthetic, but spectral... Requiring different technology to fight. Im thinking about the enemies from Final Fantasy The Spirits Within. Things able to pass through walls and enter ships, maybe have some form of possession to replace indoctrination.

Yeah but the symbolism may be too obvious. its a but too on the nose.

itl like haveing a certan Blue Oyster cult song as the trailer to ME.3

Not even remotely close! Although that would've been hilarious

My thoughts?

This ain't fookin Metal Gear Solid and never will be. It ain't that deep. Drop the speculation on the song. It was merely used for dramatic effect. Whereas that would have held tremendous meaning in a Kojima creation. Btw, Elegia is quite the beautiful song, as is Sins of The Father. Too bad New Order's other songs do nothing for me.

Why drop the speculation???? I don't understand this request at all. Firstly the speculation is harmless. Secondly the Montreal studio director specifically said...

Can you guys please remove the Andromeda trailer and replace it with proper music that fits the Mass Effect universe?

Yanick Roy ‏@YanickRRoy
No, sorry, because there are very good reasons for that choice of song for the trailer that should become clear later on.

Yanick Roy ‏@YanickRRoy
The game's music itself will be much closer to what you would traditionally associate with "Mass Effect music"

...now it may be that we are reading more into this than is there. But so what. What harm does it do? But also your own claim that it is simply there for dramatic effect does not fit well with them telling us that there are very good reasons for that choice of song that should become clear later on.
