Mac's finally getting KOTOR 2 and achievements and controller support (yay!) has been added.

On one hand, I'm happy that the game is still being supported after so long.

On the other hand, I just finished a play through a month ago and that was to be my last LS play through for a long time and now I realized I'll have to play LS again just to unlock the achievements!

Also why isn't KOTOR 1 getting an update too?

Because Kotor 2 = master race. Fo srs tho, it would be cool. And I don't even have a gaming PC. (eternal sadness)

I was going to post a thread about it, but I'm speculating that we might see a Kotor 2 remaster or successor soon. It's extremely odd that Kotor 2 has been patched nearly 11 years after release.

Nah. They're just making a mobile port of KotOR II and felt, "Why not?" I doubt it has anything more to it. Only EA can make Star Wars games at the moment, and they won't overwrite their MMO for Obsidian.

Disney has the rights too, they have mobile games made. Disney probably has the ability to make a remaster as part of the contract or they could have talked with EA and learned that they were planning on doing a KotOR-like successor and decided to do the update to hype it up. True they won't want to overwrite TOR, but they might not see it as doing that. They might see it as hyping things up for the new TOR Expansion or Disney could simply be looking to cash in on a remake or mobile port like you said. The might not be touch the original KotOR because Bioware/EA might have plans or want to do something with it in the future.

We know that TOR isn't going anywhere for quite a while as that was likely a large reason as to why EA bought the 10 year exclusivity rights -it was only running for a year when Disney bought Lucasfilm and they didn't really have time to profit from the costs to make the thing- but they could be planning on shutting it down for when they near the end of their exclusivity agreement.

Who knows? I'm holding out hope because while KotOR 3 can't happen, I've been hoping for a singleplayer successor for a very very long time.

That's some next level delusion, tbh. And Disney has only been dealing with a TCG, really. It's not exactly the same thing as another KotOR, which would automatically be canon if released now. It's just not going to happen.

I bought KotOR 2 for the original Xbox. I want a refund: the new restored version for free.

Rah told me about it yesterday morning and I pretty much internally screamed with joy. Haven't gone through with the Restoration Patch yet so this is as good an excuse for a reinstall as any.

So looking forward to revisiting this old flawed gem

I bought Kotor 2 on Steam few months ago on sale and still haven't had a chance to play it.  This should be fun :)

The agreement was that Disney could still make mobile/social games, but EA otherwise has the rights to making games. Even then, I suspect that Disney would rather make a game to hype up their new film.

Although they did announce that three studios would be working on Star Wars games. DICE is making Battlefront, BioWare is making ToR, and while I highly doubt it's any kind of a successor to KotoR we don't know what Visceral is going to be making yet.

It's lead by Amy Hennig, which means it'll probably be like 1313 ala Uncharted.. a game designed around its spectacles.

Have you seen this game:  ?

Daniel Erickson is working on it, he worked on The Old Republic. It seems to be an RPG with classes even though it's mobile. I'm not ruling anything out, if they are putting out things like this then there is nothing stopping Disney from putting out a KotOR successor or a KotOR 2 port for phones.

Well know with David Gaider moving to a new "IP" and Chris Avellone quitting Obsidian that Kotor 3 is just around the corner. Or that is just wishful thinking.

According to all of the rumors the Visceral game is open world. People have been speculating that they are bringing back 1313 since they hired Amy Hennig due to the fact that a lot of people were calling 1313's E3 gameplay as being like Uncharted's. I have a good feeling that we might be in for the first M-rated Star Wars game since its Visceral we're talking about; Dante's Inferno, Dead Space.

Well there's also the whole fact of Nolan North flat out saying that Amy Hennig's Star Wars game, i.e. the Visceral one, is 1313 mixed with Uncharted.

No clue what Visceral ultimately will have in store for itself, but I like Amy Hennig's work in Uncharted and Legacy of Kain, that I am currently playing through (which is awesome so far), so I will keep my eye open once news of it hits the web.

Legacy of Kain is amazing for its incredible storytelling and voice acting from the likes of Michael Bell whose voice is legendary -- It's probably the best games she's worked on alongside the first 3 Jak games for Naughty Dog.

Agreed on the VA. Though Simon Templeman is more the one who makes it for me.

God, I can never get enough of his voice.

Both of them were incredible. Also props to the voice-actor for the Elder God, Tony Jay, who unfortunately passed a decade ago. Not that we're likely to see another LoK game, but I would have liked having him if it had ever happened.
