Anyone else disappointed with the Tac Cam and how poorly the levels accommodated it?

The Tac Cam's return was appreciated but it feels like it was implemented as an afterthought as DAI was quite action-oriented. The fact that tight indoor levels render it frustrating to use was just disappointing. The Tac Cam should not be limited in any way. The only limits the players should face is their ability to think strategically in combat.

What are your thoughts on this?

Not really, no.The tac cam is only an emergency tool for me, I play the game in real time, always have all the way back to Origins, so Tac Cam has little or no value for me and those who also prefer real time combat.

Yes. The fact that the tac cam has environmental collision is just... it's absolute nonsense. When switching characters requires a 'fade out/fade in' it will unpause the game. It all just feels very shoddy and slapped-together.

Yeah the tac cam in DAO was much better. You could still watch the action from a zoomed out view and it was much easier to use. For me it allowed for a closer to turn based combat which I prefer when managing a group. In addition to a wider view with the tac cam I would love an option for auto pause at the end of the each companion combat action.

The tactical camera could use improvements. I hated it at first, then got used to it. I then went back and played Origins after beating Inquisition and the difference was like day and night. Origins was so much better.

But I will admit on thing. I found myself trying to use that invisible fifth party member that is the cursor view from DA:I, and I felt like Origins was missing something without it. I could still edge scroll, but I had to be zoomed out to do it. So that was a little frustrating.

I think the tactical view is okay, but it should be more like Origins, and it should keep the cursor scroll while also having edge scroll, and like others have posted it should not collide with the environment. I would add that objects should go transparent as well when zoomed out, just like Origins.

The trick is to play without it because it is really annoying

Like it was said, only used as an emergency tool

Tac Cam was atrocious, but then so was the Tactics system, companion AI, combat mechanics, and abilities. Actually, the entire combat system was a travesty. It was so bad I can't bring myself to even try to play it again. Every aspect of DAI's gameplay other than crafting was significantly degraded from previous iterations.

Tac cam should be a highlight but it's so poorly done. I hate the way I give orders and halfway on the way to do them my characters ignore it. They couldn't even get hold position right.

It really was terribly implemented.

It's okay otherwise, but it takes some time to get used to and it creates some lag on PS3... and has some fade blacks due to saving memory space.

Tac cam works well enough most of the time.

I preferred the pause menu with all the abilities accessible  to the very frustrating tactical view.

Agree 100%. I especially hate how they butchered and gave us a bareboned tactics system. I mean they did a good job at expanding it with DA2 and then they threw the whole thing out with DAI.

It lends credence to the fact that Bioware wanted a game to appeal to every common denominator, and by doing that you make the game more actioney and less tactical or intelligent. What a shame.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the Tac Cam during my Nightmare run - where I used it almost exclusively.  In fact, the only problem I had was the the way it would recentre on a character when you selected them, but that was fixed with a patch.

TacCam is cr@p as far as I am concerned, used it a couple of times at the start, realized it was cr@p and never used it again.
