Anyone know what the flashing of the chantry icon indicates? The one just left of the quest tracker, the eye thing. Noticed it flashes sometimes but no idea what it is trying to tell me...

Do you have a screenshot? It may just be the icon that is indicating which quest is marked active... Not sure if I know exactly what you're talking about though...

No, I only see it briefly flash white from the corner of my eye sometimes.

It means that the Chantry is watching you. Always.

I think it's just the active quest being obnoxious, shouting "Here I am, here I am, you have an active quest nearby!". Nothing to be worried about.

Probably that's the 'search' area indication? Like you've got something around to 'ping' for?  I have no idea what else you might be talking about.

OP said it's to the left of the quest tracker. save icon is bottom-right corner (last I've seen it).

Don't think so, it's the minimap (bottom left) that flashes when a quest searchable is nearby. And yes, save icon is bottom right, so not that, either.

It just means that you completed a part/ advanced in the marked quest. Nothing to worry about.

Yes, that thing is what I meant. You sure? It seems to flash at random times, like when I was just pinging for resources but didn't really find anything (and wasn't doing anything else that should advance a quest). Hence my confusion.

I never mark my quests, so I haven't really investigated it much, but I know that sometimes the Quest tracker goes bonkers and flashes 4-5 quests in the area that I've already finished. It's mostly harmless, slightly irritating but little more.  Maybe the Chantry Icon is going through the same crisis? You could try looking if the quest tracker changes any when it flashes.

The quest tracker on the screen can be buggy with quest completion. Some quests, such as Master of Horses, repeatedly flash "complete" afterward for a brief time; I haven't figured out exactly what it is that finally gets it to stop. For Lotus and Root, I've observed that even if you've completed this quest it flashes every time you gain 5+ blood lotus. It's quite annoying.

 

I do suggest that, as you're questing, you occasionally look at the quest journal and click over any new quests and completed quests to remove the star (new, unread list item). That can help somewhat.

 

BUT there is also an accompanying sound with the quest completion flash, so if you're not hearing that then I may be wrong about what you're experiencing. Another cause might be the updating of the quest tracker if you have the option -- Options > Interface -- checked for Quest Tracker Fades While Inactive. I've noticed that this doesn't always fade correctly and just leave the box unchecked.

Makes sense, guess it's just another bug like the "special shipments" box that keeps showing an active ! on the map every time I return to the area despite there being nothing new in it...
