The ritual performed by Merril was intended to revive Flemeth by using a remnant of her essence, is that correct?

So, what changes in this part of the story if you didn't "kill" her in Origins?

Nothing, if killed in origin she only say the ritual was a form of security if morrigan manage to convince the warden to kill her.

Nothing happens, but I do wonder what the point is when you are given the option to spare her and you choose it. She still transfers a part of herself into that amulet. She still is revived and speaks to you in Sundermount, so what does that mean for the still living Flemeth in Ferelden? I feel as if DA2 had a default setting built around Flemeth's death despite the option to spare her. All I can think of that makes sense if you spare her, is the Sundermount part goes off to merge with her other half in Ferelden.

I think if you interpret the timeline when she meets Hawke she wouldn't be killed by the warden, don't forget that the start of DA2 take place right after lothering destruction, which would be after the warden complete one of the four main quests, in this case she is alive at the beginning of DA2, she knew back then that Morrigan would investigate about her, she was worried that Morrigan would attempt to do something (which she did), her conversation with Hawke atop Sundermount indicates exactly that, it seemed to me that she didn't even know if she was slain back in the Korcari wilds.

agree on the default setting for her in DA2, Gaider and the other writers assumed that we'll kill her if not for the lore at least for xp

While we're at it, tell me... what is Keeper Marethari's clan still doing in the north?

I'm asking because I'm sure they are found there regardless of whether you played a Dalish warden who gave them land in Ferelden.

DAO and DA2 happen simultaneously?

The boon you receive after slaying the archdemon isn't recognised, plus the dalish are always on the move.

The first part, yes.

Yeah that's the first thing I noticed was Hawke meets her right after you do a main quest in DAO and Lothering is lost. Interestingly enough the timing fits with the most common main quest people tend to complete first, which is Broken Circle. People want Wynne as early as possible and that's how soon Morrigan can get the Grimoire.

Yes. it is as you said, the circle is usually the first option for most (it was for me), maybe it was supposed to be the default setting yet again, still sloppy writing in that part.

The Dalish don't move for the sake of moving, you know. It's because they aren't welcome anywhere.

However, this should be the exception.

Interestingly enough I think the Dalish was meant to be first. Maybe it's just lack of time so it was cut, but it seems that when Leliana sings after the werewolf quest, if you look at your companions, no Wynne, Zevran or Oghren show up. And the forest is the closest place to head to from Lothering too. I myself went to Redcliffe, then the Circle to save Connor on my first playthrough.

I didn't notice that in my all playthroughs, the only time i couldn't interact with my companions in the camp was after the ambush by the darkspawn.

Yeah it's when Leliana sings. It's a long cutscene and as she's walking around the camp singing, it pans on your companions and those 3 aren't there because you never recruited them yet I'm assuming. You only see you, your Mabari, Alistair, Morrigan and Sten.

LOL you had her NAKED? I can't watch that scene now without laughing!

Yeah I used a Sacred Ashes Trailer mod for her face and it worked much better when she sang.

As said, the starts happen simultaneously but then several years go by. But the Dalish clan would remain at Sundermount even with land available for them in Ferelden as the Keeper has unfinished business with Merrill.

The Sabrae clan has also lost their halla, which makes travelling... difficult.

Keeper Marethari's clan was still in the North because the blight was still going strong-of course I do the Sundermount early as possible after finishing the year in the gang and before going to see Aveline..

We can find out from King Alistair in Act 3 that he offered the Dalish land and that went badly in some unspecified way, so they no longer have it. When you first meet Merrill in DA 2 she has only heard stories about what happened in Ferelden. Despite what you can say at the end of DAO, I think Ashalle is the only member of the clan who ever saw the Hero of the Ferelden or the Dalish Boon.
