I decided to import my save of DA2 where Anders lived and Sebastian left the party. I realize he said that he would invade Kirkwall, but dear Maker, he became a total sociopath! After my Hawke made sure to encourage him to stay with the chantry and serve the people, Sebastian is just arbitrarily going around the Free Marches sacking random cities in a quest to punish every land that ever hosted Anders.

I greatly enjoyed DA3's Cullen option to fight off Sebastian's armies with Aveline as that hypocrite doesn't deserve to rule over a piece of driftwood after becoming as vengeful as Anders. Did anyone else loose respect for Sebastian or think that his character was mishandled? Does anyone actually support his actions and take the option to encourage Aveline to surrender?

Sebastian is doing The Maker's work. Restoring order to a city in chaos, while also hunting a dangerous mad abomination. Naturally, the Inquisition should support him.

I killed Anders, so instead he offered to support the Inquisition.

It seems that if you mix chantry, nobility and orphans, you likely get a douchebag who hates mages, exaggerates anything they do and wants to blame them for everything wrong on their miserable lives and hurt innocents in the process, plus, they are such hypocrites don't you think? Sebastian is not the only one, but I would pay to see Avelin taking the **** out of him.

I think what happens to Sebastian if you don't kill Anders is sad, but not particularly surprising. Keep in mind that he's already lost his entire family, and spends the entire game torn between duty to Starkhaven and his vow to the Chantry. Then Anders destroys the Chantry he thinks of as his home, killing Sebastian's mother figure and hundreds of other people in the process. From Sebastian's perspective, this must feel like divine punishment for not turning the apostate abomination in to the Templars years earlier when he had the chance. I'm not surprised that he snaps if Anders isn't killed on the spot in front of him.

"Keep it to yourself, Anders. We don't want to hear it."

is the proper response whenever Anders opens his mouth.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean he has right to turn on his friends and hurt even more innocent people, Aveline is reasonable and didn't like what Anders did either, he should have sent a team to chase Anders rather than beginning a bloody war.

This was my problem with it, too. He's no better than Anders at that point. He outright admits that he knows Anders isn't in Kirkwall anymore, but he's going to teach 'em a lesson for daring to ever let him set foot in their city anyway. Never mind that the mages there ran him off on their own and no one (except Hawke, depending) wants anything to do with him anymore. Sebastian just throws a fit because he apparently can't track him down on his own.

Edit: To answer your question, OP, I also picked Cullen's option there. it was one of the few times I was actually "Yes! Send in the troops!!!" Like....encourage Aveline to surrender?! Josephine's option I think?....Aveline's only defending her people. Sebastian's development didn't exactly surprise me, considering he kind of did promise to burn Kirkwall to the ground after I spared Anders.

Well plus the cities a red lyrium infested monster den; it really needs to be just wiped off the map and never resettled like Carthage

He lives in my world too. Hawke ran off with him. I sent Aveline reinforcements to go after Sebastian.

Changed your mind huh?

You used to think a church bombing was a church bombing and there was nothing "heroic" about it.

Not overly surprised really though neither

Now I want to see the Kirkwall guard striking back by riding elephants over to Starkhaven, thanks.
