My solution is the best one.
Keep the helmet toggle always on.

I've a great solution
Airlock the CC. Waste of resources when you could just use presets.
Come at me bosh'tets.
What?
Impossible to create your own characters, make self-inserts and make PC that doesn't look like everyone's PC's around web already.
I know. That's the point. No more crying about a superfluous feature.
I'd literally rather have ostentatious CoD style gun camos or some other rubbish. Less time wasted on fluff that I am not going to use anyway.

Awkward for the romance scenes
Awkward for the romance scenes
Nahh people romanced Tali, it's about the personality man....the personality!
If we get that batarian romance people keep bringing up then I'm especially favorable for having such feature.

I'd rather have more romance content than multiplayer.
I'd rather have more weapon choices than having insanity difficulty.
That's just two examples, but like you already probaply know, lot of people like content that you don't care about/don't use in the games. CC being one major content like that.
Awkward for the romance scenes
I did a Liaramance playthrough once. Upon meeting her in ME2, Shep had the N7 breather helmet on. Her face clipped through it and made kissy noises.
It was the best part of the whole romance.

My point exactly. For batarians they could use a paper bag as well.
What the heck...

Presets have been more than fine in the past. I started a new KotOR2 game a few days ago and they have presets for pretty much everything.
My male Shepards were all the default look, too. I only changed the female ones a little. Same for the Hawkes in DA2.
What do I care about making distinct characters in a SP game? No one but me is going to see them.
EA Is probably going to make game face for Mass Effect: Andromeda.
I don't see what's wrong with it, it looks fine to me.
Except for the fact that people will probably scan in Commander Shepard's, or their Commander Shepard's face.
It will be a cool extra feature if they add it.

Same. For ME1 and 2 I just use the default with different hair and eye colour on females, and either carry it over or use the preset in ME3 (I think it has a bit too much makeup but otherwise she looks cool.). For broshep I just use sheploo. He's pretty smexy and trying to make a male face ends up with eldrich abominations anyway. Half my face is going to end up falling off anyway because killing evil robots and threatening galactic scum is apparently "renegade", so it's not like it matters. I've no interest in spending time playing with goddamn nose bridge sliders or whatever on a character that only I will see.
If I could, I would have my character wear a helmet at almost all times anyway. I hate that it disappears just because I'm in a conversation. Apparently, noone is going to try to shoot me in the head while I'm talking to some random NPC.

Yep, I keep the helmet toggle on in ME1. For the entire squad. No longer an option in the sequels but ME3 allows you to circumvent it and you can wear a helmet again even in conversations.
In case the readers decided not to watch the video.

In any game that doesn't have set character I create my own. I never use presets and I consider CC crucial part of the playthrough. Also people often share their characters, make edits and fanart so having only presets there aren't so nice. In the end it's up to playing style, but I don't consider game being very good RPG if RPG at all if it doesn't have CC.

I actually found ME3 to be the greatest offender. You could have your squadmates always wear helmets but not yourself. Examples would be places like Mars where you lose your helmet upon meeting Liara and never get it back through the whole mission (but Ashley/ Kaidan get theirs back for some reason). ME2 kept the helmet on pretty well (the problem in that game was that only Shepard, Tali, and Garrus actually had proper EVA gear instead of the stupid breath masks), and ME1 had that great toggle feature that they shouldn't have removed.

Yea, ME1 had the best way to handle it, I agree.
ME2 was worst IMO, just because I couldn't tke the helmets off at all for the premade armors. That meant that I could only use them on a few specific missions. In general, I think the digital acting in the ME games is too important to hide the character's face all the time.
ME3 had it's issues but at least I could choose to be without the helmet for all armors. Also, it has the widest ariety in armor and helmet combinations so that's a plus as well.
But yes, I also opt to get the ME1 style toggle back. An animated switch from helmet to non-helmet and back would be ising on the cake.
As for character creation: That video in the OP is pretty cool but we'll see. Apart from some weird looking heir, I never had any big complaints about BW's CCs, so I don't think it's something we need to think bout fixing before we even saw what we'll get.

I solved it in ME3 by using the Cerberus (Ajax, Inferno, Nightmare, Shade, Spirit) and Blood Dragon armors. You keep the helmet up in almost all situations.
That face....
There's a dent in the right jaw that bothers me.
Which is why I remain an advocate for the face scan system being used to set up a base facial structure within the game's parameters (Ex. Inquisition's Characer Creator.) so as to prevent unfix-able things like that jaw-dent or- you know. Face mutants as posted prior.
Was there anything bad about the DA:I character creator other than that hair?
They couldn't figure out how to let us make Qunari Inquisitors that didn't just look like horned humans. It's impossible to make a Qunari that looks like the Qunari of DAII.
You realize those videos show the best possible outcomes of that tech? All those horror cthulu madness faces everyone else posted are what will happen 50% of the time. If you have a perfect face (symetric, no notably abnormal features [such as broken nose, etc]) then it might work. But for most people it will end up being mediocre at best.
I'd rather they focused on making the actual CC good and less on these fads.
Eh... I would not want my Pathfinder to look exactly like me (No I am not physically deformed). I will take a decent CC over fancy-pants face scanners anyday.

Yeah so do I I don't generally play with the settings too much as i find the moer I tweak the uglier they get. However i still play with them enough to make them differen each time. The only time I played with the default character was my first run through the ME series, but then I had never played a game with a CC at that point so didn't really know how to use it then. I have played around with it since then and learnt what I needed to in order to create the characters I wanted.
I'd rather have more romance content than multiplayer.

Romance content and weapon choices actually affect the way the game is played to an extent, so I don't think those are entirely unreasonable requests......apart from the fact that multiplayer teams don't write characters (and thus romances) so that wouldn't actually help you get more romances, and insanity difficulty is merely a series of multipliers or value changes on enemy damage, accuracy, health values, shieldgate etc, so doesn't really add any extra development time.
Whoever makes the CC is probably a computer graphic designer. If they weren't working on it, they could probably model more of other, meaningful assets. Lets say more turian, drell or krogan females, perhaps? But no, lets have face sliders even though no one is going to react to whether or not I make my character a supermodel or give them down syndrome and a 15cm underbite.
The problem I have with Bioware's CC is that it's too Euro-centric and 1-2 Black preset. There are no presets for Asian faces, and it's hard to make a non-white characters that look like the player if we want the character to represent us. I would at least be okay with if there are more presets of other races like Asians and Middle Easterners.
I know. That's the point. No more crying about a superfluous feature.

Quarians were a superfluous race and a waste of resources. They could have just made female Turians, Krogan and Batarians instead of making Quarians.
