I third (or forty third) the motion. Even just breaking the "Use" fuction from the Cover & Sprint would make me a happy panda. I find that I'm still hitting Enter to interact with things, even though I "know" better. Grrrr.....

Ok should've realised to ignore the obvious troll, also last I checked this topic should really be in the tech question as it is... a tech question

Dude, he's right. I finished my first playthrough, and it really did feel a bit too consoleized. They just simply streamlined the design process to make both versions as homogeneous as possible WHILE maximizing (without breaking said homogenity) usability on the PC platform. Basically, they went with the limited set of options the Console had, translated that into the options you'd have on the PC, and added a few more bits and thingamajigs for the PC version.

They didn't really think it very thoroughly about the fact that PC gamers like to have more control over the information that gets presented to us. Having a "Tutorial" tooltip toggle would have helped, among many other things.

Agreed...while console gamers like streamlined, us PC gamers do not mind less streamlined...WE HAVE A KEYBOARD!!!
What I think is this marks the end of Bioware developing with the PC in mind.
We are doomed to play simple games that have great cinematics...the PC is dying.

I'd really like my ME1 HUD back. Having each party member on a different side with my abilities at the top just feels cleaner then this current system.

Just because the term "port" has become synonymous with "missing features on PC" does not mean that ME2 is a port.

The non-exsistent "radial menu" is labeled the radial menu in the tutorial.  The textures are tuned for 720p output (the 360's resolution), gameplay focused on utilizing menus and "shortcuts" (like the swap last weapon "feature").  Those are the types of examples that lead myself and many others to believe that this game was developed with consoles in mind, and then ported over to the PC.  Clearly they added a little functionality to the game so it would work with a keyboard/mouse - but there is a very clear cut LACK of polish that would be there had the game been seperately developed on the PC.

There are too many oversites that I can't imagine would make it into a game that was developed with PC gamers in mind.  You can claim it's not a port - but there is far more proof it is a direct port.

He quite clearly explained why he thinks the game is a port in his original post, that the key setup and binding options are of a typical port.  Though maybe I should take your advice and ignore the obvious troll in this thread...

No, but the guy asked why the OP thought that way, and the OP's reasoning is clearly in his original post and yet they felt the need to ask and then refer to him as a troll, so I felt the need to correct him.

Can you play PC version with a 360 controller?

(incase you didn't know all 360 controllers... save wireless... work with the PC)

Indeed, no double click functionality, 3 function button, Limited UI seems like they dropped the ball on this one.

The problem is, I play PC games, I don't want a controller because I have far more accurate and customizable tools at my disposal (the mouse & keyboard).

Has any Bioware dev played a PC game recently? ME2 is....missing some pretty fundamental things. Like doubleclick to accept (seriously....how could you skip this?).

Would be nice if the tooltips took it into account when you remapped a key.

1key/3action binding, no double click support, no wheel support for text, no gun bindings, no bindings for codex/squad/jounal etc etc make it a port, period.

Demiurge did a far and away better job on ME1 than Bioware did on ME2 and even IT was complained about and subpar compared to straight PC titles, Bioware saying the PC version was made in tandum with the 360 version is utter crap.

Let alone the fact that it's beyond difficult to change settings in the ini files as anything to drastic will crash the game...  This has got to be the worst port to PC title I've seen in a while. They need to go talk to Rocksteady studios on how to make a valid port.

I seriously don't understand, Just what in the world is wrong with a 3 action space bar???!!!!!! Whats wrong with sprinting with space??? whats wrong with interacting objects with space??? whats wrong with going into cover with space??? Its not even like you'll have conflict with them, I have yet to encounter a time where I want to take cover, instead I sprint...Or vice versa. I have also never had a problem using objects, but instead I take cover?

BTW it is quite possible this is a port because the lack of option to change texture size... not even shader.  Even ME1 has it, and thats a port!

I agree with most of you on this thread.

It's way too little customization for the key mapping.

Would love it/appreciate it if BioWare could comment on whether or not they are even interested in fixing some of these issues.

People complained about this "cover mechanic" when Gears of War was released.  It's not as user friendly as the Ghost Recon style cover system from the first Mass Effect.

Wireless controllers do work on Windows when using a seperate 360 Games for Windows reciever.
But that's not a fix for the problem because some people don't want to use a controller for shooting games on a PC.

I couldn't care less about hot keys for the information screens. Options for things like the pop ups would be nice, but that's all, nice. Likewise with the various menus being obvious console ports and not supporting a scroll wheel, proper clicking/double clicking, etc. That's all nice.

The inability to hotkey a weapon, something standard and absolutely necessary for any shooter or pseudo-shooter, is a killer though and really needs a hotfix.

Oh, and it's amusing how for the hotkeys BioWare did implement the defaults are completely different than the standard for PC games, especially shooters. Interface design 101. That's like creating a Windows app that gives you context menus with a left click and does normal clicks with a right click. At least it can be changed though, so no harm done.

Weapon hotkeys is all I really want. Kinda "breaks the flow" of action to have to put the game on hold to get the correct weapon that you want.

But overall it's been playing very smoothly. A LOT better than Dragon Age.

Welcome to the console age; dumbing down for the masses, and made to run on toys with less technological power then a present day Netbook. Consoles are toys, nothing more, sad too because these games are coded on pc's.

But I blame EA once again, just looking at Dragon Age, which was supposed to be a pc-exclusive, once the anti-Christs of gaming bought Bioware, EA, they had Bioware delay the game then had them make it cross-platform.

John Riccitello has the doctors bent over a table atm, you're not getting a response now or any time soon.
