Needless to say, I still need to get my game (should arrive tomorrow) and play through it.

It's different from ME1, which we've all played a million times, so it's jarring. I get it. Really, though, is it ruining the gameplay/story/canon? No, of course not.
Why do you need separate keys for interact/run? You never perform those functions at the same time, so it doesn't matter.
FWIW, I have characters at 60 in ME1 on both 360 and PC.

The PC version is completely fine. The only change I made was that I swapped the shift/spacebar functions. Biotics are fine (my adept + team slaughters), the UI is fine, etc.

So you enjoy being forced to pause everytime you want to switch weapons, cause it's very irritating and breaks the flow of the combat too much. It's been fairly universal that PC gamers want more keybinds - and none of them would negatively impact anyone's enjoyment of the game.
If you're the type of gamer that doesn't mind constrained control schemes, then you can ignore the extra options. If on the other hand, you enjoy having freedom and more options available to you, such as being able to press 1 button to pull out a specific weapon, then more keybinds would be incredible.
Walk/run TOGGLE would be amazing considering keyboards aren't analog sticks, and having to hold a second button down to walk is plain stupid. The UI is designed for consoles, and not for a PC game. It's large, and somewhat clunky - especially when compared to the UI on ME for the PC.
I'm fine w/ your support of the game, but I don't agree that the game is "fine" - and the changes being requested here wouldn't impact your game in a negative way. There was really no need to speak out against them and defend the rather poor decisions BioWare made for the PC version.

That's a problem in the 360 version as well though. Though it's definitely very irritating regardless of what platform you're playing on.

#1 requested feature here is F-keys for weapons, and I completely agree.
I'd also like to see an option to un-omnify the space bar. At least for sprint and cover.

I have no idea why people are having problems swapping weapon since 90% of the time you are swapping from the pistol to the smg or vice versa which is just scroll up or scroll down with the mouse. The only time i found it to be an issue was with the soldier.

I know there have been a lot of complaints about the controls for the PC version, but I don't think they are bad at all. I personally think the spacebar is fine and I like that it is right there for me to press to open doors, run, ect. Bioware should offer more options to the player so everyone can customize the controls in a way that is fit for them. In my opinion the default keybindings are perfect for me.OurSacrifice wrote...
Walk/run toggle please. I don't understand why this was changed to a "hold to walk" when the original Mass Effect was toggled.
Weapon hotkeys please. We have dozens of extra keys, why can't I map my pistol to F1, shotgun to F2, etc... ? It was like this in the first game, why change something that clearly wasn't broken?
More keybind options as well please. Having spacebar (by default) do three actions just isn't fluid when comparing to the original game. I realize ME2 was made with a focus on the 360 and that it was just ported over to the PC with a couple interface tweaks, but some additional attention and loving care to PC users would be appreciated.
Is there a way to turn off the huge "hints" that keep popping up on my screen? I mean, WOW. Or at least ... if you're going to force them on us, could you at least make them display the correct keybind if we've remaped some keys?
---
I know it's too late for the following - but the new inventory system is terrible. The new squad interface (in combat) is NOT designed well, especially when the original game's UI for squad AI was just fine.
Overall, exceptionally disappointed in the quality of this PC port. Was expecting something with a little more care and effort on your part, BioWare. Story is great, as expected - I'm just amazed that you actually went backwards in some areas from the original.

You are aware that using the scroll wheel to cycle through multiple weapons forces you to EQUIP each weapon as you scroll through them, right?
I've got an assault rifle, machine gun, pistol, shotgun and heavy gun on my vanguard. That's 5 guns, so in most situations I have to equip 1 gun, then cycle to the next. It's a waste of time when the combat is happening. Plus it's a stupid concept.
I'm sure somewhere you thought this was a witty response, but your lack of understanding on how the game works basically ruined your pathetic attempt to flame someone. I've got a six button mouse and every button is bound to some arbitrary keybind in this game, even though I'd much rather have them bound of USEFUL actions.

And yes i've done this and have no problem with it. The inconsequential couple of seconds it might take you to get the gun you want is never an issue unless you put yourself in a really bad position even on insanity.

Memorizing weapon order doesn't change the fact that with 5 weapons, you are often presented with having to cycle through a weapon before getting to the one you want. This basic logic is going over your head, why?

And after going through the thread this is obviously of such a grave concern to the community that you've had to repeatedly bump it to keep it on the 1st page...

In the meantime, here's how I got by the three action spacebar:
1. Swap Spacebar and Left Shift around, so now Spacebar pops up the Tactical screen when held, and Left Shift runs, ducks into cover and use.
2. I put Q and E to Z and C; I moved C to X.
3. Q is then defined as Use Last Weapon, while E is the secondary keybind for Run/Cover/Use.

-no mouse wheel in menus
-no double click to select menu options
-no hotkeys for weapons
-no hotkeys for squad, journal, codex
-no separate bindables for use/run/cover (although this is minor)
-holster weapon doesn’t draw weapon
-forced on helmets for DLC armour (you realise no one will use them right???? I wanna see the charecter in coversations especially)
-those stupid portrait pictures at the bottom of the screen ruining an otherwise invisible UI (I think I can remember 2 squad members thanks!!)
- weapon select when in pause combat mode (just have 4 icons! silly drop down thing that comes out over powers is irritating)
-weapon draws automatically constantly after using items (again very minor this one)
- Control wise mostly all the above basically point to them trying to map the 360 controls to a keyboard with no effort put in to the PC's extra options and needs............. but it doesn’t support an xbox 360 pad!!! Madness
The end. Otherwise its terriffic!!!!!!!!!

I switch weapons with the mouse scroller. Easier than hitting a button.
Why would anybody ever want to walk? This makes no sense to me. Is this a RP thing?

This. If you don't believe that ME2 is a 360 port with minimal effort to convert it to an intuitive PC GUI and keymapping, you haven't played it on the PC yet or you're blind.Sabiancym wrote...

Play the game. Enough said.
Bioware should've hired Demiurge to port the game to PC again, because they did a brilliant job with ME1.
