Epic FC Frost Dragon battle on Routine
#1
Posté 23 juillet 2015 - 02:47
1. Level 1 Reaver, Level 1 Avvar, Level 1 Archer, Level 1 Legionnaire
2. Inquisition Weapons only
3. No rings, no belts, no amulets (we equipped items that would not do anything for the characters since there was no way of unequipping accessories)
4. Basic Armor with no buffs
5. Potions - used
6. All players were promoted well
7. No HoK, HoH nor any other healing methods
It was a truly epic battle and the hardest was the Dragon, who is normally the pushover. We had Red Templars as enemies and we did the Treasure rooms.
The Dragon fight alone lasted 45mins. The dragon went to top of the towers for catapult hit twice only and generated guard over 10 times during the battle. The avvar who was highest promoted player hit for average of 50 to 60 critical hits, 90-150 mighty blows. Archer hit harder with explosive shots.
At the end of the battle the Mighty Routine Frost Dragon laid defeated as well as two of our comrades the Archer and Legionnaire were in the fade. Reaver survived due to heal on hit and the Avvar due to the guard generation from the charge.
Next time we will try the Fearsome Threatening Frost Dragon and see if we can hear her roar from the fade...!

Weapons and Armor make all the difference, promotions don't matter that much. We 4, highly promoted players had a rough go at routine dragon last night. Getting there wasn't that hard, but that darned dragon... He never went to the tower! Fun times! Let's not do it again ![]()

Fun experiment, and worth remembering for those of us who do have the gear and promotions (I'm no way super promoted, stats in the low 40s, but great gear) before we start herding nerfs.

My 76.5% Crit Chance says otherwise...
... so does your % Defence from promotions
I grant you weapons and armour are the biggest factor but promotions do matter in the area of damage taken.
We just forget what it was like starting out I'd imagine.

True, promotions definitely matter, but not as much as weapons and armor. Crit chance certainly being the most important in something like this, when using the starting gear. Even with 100+ in all stats, my archer was still only hitting the dragon for 2 damage per arrow, and critting for 4. Explosive Shot crit for around 250 vs Frost dragon.
I don't think there's a way someone with no promotions could've completed it. Had we not had the Reaver, with his inherent heal on hit, there's no way we would've completed.

without a doubt. promotions help with survivability even then we lost two because the class did not have inherent survivable ability at level 1. However the gear such as HoK, HoH matters, even leveling and ability such as evade, leaping shot etc for archer and similar for other classes. Remember these were level 1s and thus the gear and promotions effect will be more pronounced than if they were higher level with active/passive skills.I been blasting this horn for ages.
Equipment + Promotions > Equipment > Promotions
who could go in without promotions as 4 level 1's and make it even that far? The game would be designed to get some levels better weapons etc before you can survive to get to face the dragon. That said no one is questioning the fact we were promoted thus we got to where we did.Now try without promotions.
I was helping someone new play (on threatening), and the struggle is real. One fart in her direction, and she'd be all fours on the floor.
We did a experiment to see set baseline for our adventure. Critical still didn't do much for basic attack, therefore it certainly shortened the time but due to only auto-attack with base weapon it didn't do much. I don't think 4 level 1's with base gear can do threatening Dragon even with promotions. Perhaps a elementalist with immolate will do more damage to the dragon but the dragonlings will be too tough, any rate it is not a easy task.

My friend and I were doing quick Threatening pugs for banners. We ended up with one player who didn't have good gear. At one point we left one guy for them to kill and ended up standing around watching him continuously attack with very little change in the health bar (the enemy's, the player's was falling quickly). I got impatient and just killed the enemy so we could move on but it made me realise how terrible the low level weapons are. And I'm guessing the free trial brought in a new wave of players because there seem to be a whole lot more poorly equipped people trying threatening now.

Yeah, those Inquisition weapons could use a boost.

The highlight of this run for me was when I tried to throw a healing mist on the near dead archer and lego, only to have the dragon swat it out of mid air like a 3 pointer denied. Without any HoK, it was like dropping water in a desert in front of them. Did we actually accompish anything? Well... I got 7 lvls and a renewed pity for newbies.

I'd play with an inquisition weapon that gave a ten percent chance to drop a golden nug on hit.
So how are you going to kill that nug?
