I found something. At mark 1:22 from the E3 trailer (side note: pause and play to get a frame by frame look) the ground starts to turn blue. Not just a blue lens flare like I thought it was. But the structure becoming active blue. Then take a look at the surrounding. It is a crater. Whatever this alien structure is, it crashed there and has been there for some time. Also the crater site has fallen and morphed over time. Now, the who and what part, I don't know yet. But it is a start. Whatever this alien fight scene is, they have been there for some time now.

Just a side theory. The aliens in the fight scene would be one of two things. 1. in a stasis pod and woke up when the N7 guy got there. 2. synthetics, the umbrella of Mass Effect is that synthetics will be made and turn on the living species. The aliens from the fight scene could be like the reapers/geth of andromeda.

Sorry I took a screenshot, but cannot figure out how to insert it. *Edit* Thanks for the help getting the photo. The blue light farthest south on the photo is added to the scene between 1:21 & 1:22. I missed it the first 100 times I watched the trailer. But once I saw it, you can 100% tell that's coming from under ground.

The "leaked poll" mentions that ancient Remnant ruins have passive sensors that will trigger active defenses, including "security troops".

OP, there are quite a few free sites to upload your photos to.  Upload to one of them and you can insert that link/pic here.

I dont know...it honestly looks like a lens flare to me, OP. But it is the site where the structure emerges from, so I guess your thought on it would make sense.

I just noticed that the desert planet from the trailer is actually a desert MOON. Not a planet. I'm surprised I didn't notice that before. You can see a very large gas giant dominating the sky, and a yellow sun-like star.

I am pleased that Bioware seems to be creating realistic alien environments, as one of the things I mentioned in my thread about creating realistic star systems was the high probability of inhabitable moons of gas giants being commonplace in the cosmos.

As for the aliens...honestly, I more interpreted them to be the Khet, fighting you over the Remnant ruins which were rising from the ground.

Could be that the ancient structures we're there to raid are powered by eezo.

I kind of hope the "Remnant" are an ancient race that used technology and eezo to turn themselves into more powerful, immortal biotics, tapping into deeper biotic powers by turning their bodies into focusing rods of sorts. Like the Esper shard mages in Magic:the Gathering-

Yeah, I see what you mean.  The purple color looks like lense flare, but the two blue spots do appear to be ground level.

Also, the blue lights on N7's back look like a "wut you say!?" kinda face.

I'm almost certain they are the Khet, since the silhouettes we see matches the physical description given for an 'arrogant' species mentioned in the supposed leak of a 2013 fan panel at PAX. The other species mentioned in that leak was supposedly described as 'ancient, advanced, and guardian' which might line up with the Remnant.

I agree. I swear it seems like I agree with all of your posts, ha.

I strongly suspect, just straight up guessing but suspect, that the Remnant will be viewed as a guardian species of sorts, and that they are somehow responsible for how the ark gets to Andromeda. They will be viewed as benevolent, godlike beings that vanished similar to the Protheans. And so, the player goes around indiscriminately activating Remnant ruins. Both to find out more about them, and to learn about their advanced technology .

The Khet will probably be viewed as an antagonistic species that covets Remnant technology and therefore is in immediate conflict with the colonists. Conflict will probably be compounded by the inability to adequately communicate with them and so their motives are assumed. However, I suspect, there will be a twist. The most predictable one would be that the Khet are actually trying to prevent these MW newcomers from ignorantly activating Remnant technology, as the Remnant are NOT benevolent but actually a grave threat.

Which triggers the return of the Remnant to Andromeda and the introduction of the new great terror to the Mass Effect lore.

Honestly, it would be an incredibly predictable story but one that follows Bioware's formula to the T.
