you monster

I'm not a monster, I'm just not a wealthy man.

Fair enough.  I don't see it as a reward, and that's just me.  I can certainly see where you're coming from, so I mean no disrespect.  That's why I stress the word "optional."  I've been a supporter of Hana/Daisy's thread in the Feedback section for months now, and I've been hoping that they give the players the option for the arc to end in sex or just in a cuddle-session or nice dinner.  Sex with the one you love is wonderful, and there is nothing like it.  However, those quiet moments of holding and talking are just as important and need to be showcased more.

I don't want it to be mandatory for the reasons you stated.   :)

I believe - and I could be mis-remembering here - that certain devs have actually stated they view the sex scene as something of a reward for playing the romance arc all the way through, and I think that's a horribly backwards way to look at it. Of course, that could just be my bad memory at work and what they actually said wasn't that at all.

But yeah, I don't think sex should be mandatory for the romances anymore than I think that marriage should be. I just don't think that, if the option is presented, it should be left to the end.

I like the approach that's mostly been taken in Dragon Age where the relationship starts, sex happens at some point, the relationship continues with new developments. Just make the sex part optional and make one of those new developments later on the option for marriage and I think you have a formula for making just about everyone happy.

Except the people who don't want any romance.

weird? creepy? stupid? or a must have feature? I mean... we can basically kill our squadmates for neglecting them, bang almost each one of them at the same time, have same sex relations. But uhhh do you think this is even possible?

well...to be fair Skyrim allow marriage if I am not mistaken

Now don't get me wrong... I play wargames all the time but over the past years this franchise made me soft... welp time to go to war with ISIS and die like a dog to reclaim my manlyhood.

Why not? Just banging squadmates can get old and not every relationship needs to just be a hook up.  So yeah I wouldn't mind having the option available. It would be nice if the marriage was mentioned by other NPCs and even possible LIs in other games. But I wouldn't want it available for the first game. If it's a trilogy then save it for the last game and only under certain conditions, such as, you can't cement a relationship with another LI or something.  idk.

I don't think they intended for sex to be seen as a reward, but as the culmination of an emotional bond; it's typically viewed as the most intimate point of a romantic relationship. So of course it's at the end :P

As for the Geth, I think the main thrust of this, being a new series, will avoid implications that point at any of the story arcs from the previous trilogy. Otherwise they'd just blank slate it and say "Well, this is the canon ending, deal with it." But then they have fallout from fans.

So, neutral story going forward, lore/codex backgrounds pasted up depending on your save file (if that becomes a thing). We'll see, anyway :) looking forward to N7 day.

Maybe something like marriage? An alien equivalent with different customs and meanings? Maybe Andromeda's new species have a ceremony for pairing up;

blorg-a-lorg: Pathfinder I present you this rock

protag: K...thanks

blorg-a-lorg: Then you have accepted the conditions , we are now num-far. you may choose a date for the consumption of your head for our future offspring

No.

While, insightful, at least it's not the typical bashing you do.

Are you against Romances? If yes then disregard the following.  But if you're ok with romances (or actively like them) then why not? They have this in SWTOR and it works just fine.  You're saying it's fine to be able to bang half your teammates and some NPC's but not marriage? okaaaaay.

Frankly I don't see why not if it fits and the "relationship" with said LI is developed as such.  but let's not be positive for once hmm?

It would seem you won't have time for that, especialy not in the first game.

Maybe you get to wed other people as Captain? people who had a story Before the game started.... Assuming you're the captain, you might just be whoever is directing the actual captain....

If it happens expect it to happen in the third game, 10 years from now or something.

lol, your character marrying someone they've known for a few months at best is something they'd deeply regret in the long run. :S

To be fair, we don't know what sort of time scale we're working with in this game.

If we're going with something similar to DA2 where the game takes place over the course of years, then this wouldn't be an issue.

Alternatively, if the game takes place over a relatively short amount of time but is the start of a new trilogy, then the option for marriage in the sequels alleviates this problem.

I do agree with you, it's just that we don't know that's the case for sure.

They didn't get married in DA2 either despite living together for years. :P

True, but I think that was more a consequence of the characters involved than anything else, what with the fantastic racism in the setting towards elves, Anders' terrorists activities, and Isabela's commitment issues.

If they had wanted to do marriage in that game I wouldn't have had a problem with it due to the time scale. And if they did another game on that time scale they might want to mix it up a bit and not follow the same pattern they did previously.

I think they should remove all romance completely.  90% of the whining on this forum is about stupid video game romances.   Go watch days of our lives if you want silly drama.   Games are for killing stuff and having fun not fantasizing about pixelated women and or men

You could marry Sebastian, though that was a chaste marriage. And as mentioned none of the other romances were approriate for Hawke if he or she took the posistion of Viscount. Still as long as the time span is right and it fits the romance, it could be in the game.

We already have a thread for that, its called "Don't do romances" Character interaction is a huge part of Bioware games and romance is the extension of that interaction. Its also natural for people going through what we do in the games to find comfort in one another. And if you don't like it, don't do the romances, they are optional after all.

That all depends on what you classify as fun. BioWare's romances would be on the list of things I consider as such, and there's no amount of wierdness, b*tching or moaning that will really change that for me, so how the BSN behaves because of it never really struck me as the best argument. I guess it helps also that people who are only interested in killing things get the lion's share of the content in the game anyway

Hell, I consider the discussions about it on the BSN fun, so I don't see that as a negative.

Bioware should create the next Sims game so our sims can have good romances :D

But all joking aside people forget the romances in games are optional and not forced on us like they seem to act like it is.

If everyone kept agreeing with everyone else I'd probably get tired of it and leave. I mean, imagine how horrible it would be if BSN was a beacon of harmony among gaming forums.

Yes!

My male protagonist should be able to end up with a harem of human and asari babes. If BioWare gives us that option then I'm all for marriage in ME:A.
