I wasn't talking about marriage going away, but about the fact that less and less people stay true to the "no sex before marriage" nonsense.

Doesn't matter here though.  What people practice in RL may not apply to the type of story they want to craft in a game.

After all, some people simply like protagonists who say Let's Wait a While, even if they personally don't

Why shouldn't it be for all LI's?  What makes the names you posted more important then the others?

Nothing except the amount of the time they have actually spent alongside the protagonist.

They're also kinda not okay with it, though, much less so than many other heavily populated countries.

Where is this "one gender" information coming from? The pictograph, which comes from this site, isn't talking about one gender.

3% of Americans, period. 97% of Americans don't, and that's a relatively divided country. Waiting is, therefore, extremely rare.

I misread it. My apologies. Still, one country which is on the fence still proves my assertion.

Depending on the playthrough, not much time is spent with Garrus, Tali, Ashley, Kaidan and Liara. Garrus doesn't have to be recruited in ME1.  Liara can be recruited late in ME1 and never seen in ME2. Tali doesn't have to be recruited in ME2  Ashley/Kaidan make a 5 minute appearance in ME2

I don't know whether to find it troubling or amusing that this thread is reminding me of at least two strange conversations I've had quite recently with the family.

On the topic of marriage though anyone have an idea if such a thing were to be implemented how it would work exactly? I get the feeling that some people won't be happy unless there's some kind of wedding cutscene or something and I couldn't really think of how to put something like that in without it interrupting the flow of the story/game.

It does?

It's less rare than homosexuality, yet Bioware is giving those as options.

That's a fair point, but allowing for same-sex romance isn't the same as adding another step in the opposite-sex romance.

Whether you have premarital sex or not, it's still relationship content with the gender of your choosing.

Can't imagine how it would interrupt the flow of a game any more than a sex scene.

It would simply be the culmination of a romance side quest.

Yes. About 10 million people in one country proves my millions upon millions of people wait statement.

Who said it would another step just be for opposite-sex romances? Steve Cortez was a gay man who was married, so why wouldn't that be an option if they decide to do this? There is nothing in their way other than do they want to.

Well I imagine having sex is a lot faster than having a wedding. I probably worded it wrong but I guess my suspension of disbelief can buy taking an hour out at your home base to have sex but has a harder time buying the time needed for a wedding. Unless I suppose if it was just a quick exchange of rings or something I could buy that but a big ceremony would be harder for me personally to buy them happening to have the time for that I guess.

I'm not the greatest at trying to explain what I mean.

Skyrim..... Marriage.... Bah! I hate that game's marriage. Sonja had it all figured out. She'd made her home in Riften. She was a Stormcloak. She figured she'd marry the smith there, right? She figured she'd have access to some primo raw materials since he was the ONLY F***ING SOURCE FOR THEM IN THE GAME!!!! Plus he seemed the decent sort, too. Responsible. Kind. So what does that lazy lout do? He decides he wants to pursue his dream and become an artist. A painter. A fracking painter. No more smith in Riften. Gone! I wanted to kill him.

Thank Talos I had a save prior to the marriage.

That was Bethesda's way of corrupt a wish.

Chances are it would just be a small ceremony. Like just the crew attending. Sort of like the wedding scene in Mission Impossible 3. The big ceremony could be mentioned to be taking place after the main story.

Well, a wedding, like sex, can be a quick hook-up or an all-day event   :D

I'm pretty sure any wedding scene would have to be really quick.  A few lines of dialogue, an NPC officiant, maybe a couple of companions witnessing the event.  Boom, done.

Heck the "wedding" for Aerie and the Bhaalspawn in ToB were them reciting vows to each other as the sun rose.

No. You made a post singling out all the LI's that weren't in ME1 because of time spent with the main character. That doesn't mean anything.

You even mention the other LI's don't play a huge role, companion wise. Why? What huge role did the ones you mention play companion wise?

Maybe political marriage, between protagonist/squad and alien races for peace or something,or populating a colony lol,no other reasons to add marriage.

Just log in to the Elkoss Combine Bridal Emporium and buy a marriage license.

I still don't think it will go away. There are still millions upon millions of people who wait, and there is no evidence in the MEU that it has changed.

But there is evidence that it's changing today. We already see less and less people are actually willing to wait with sex and for good reasons.

They are there WITH YOU through at least 2 of the 3 major events of the trilogy. Hitting Ilos and stopping Saren and Soveriegn. Going through the Omega 4 Relay and stopping the Collectors. And attacking the Cerberus Headquarters, followed promptly by touching down on earth and stopping the Reapers. Garrus and Tali are there (unless they weren't recruited in ME1) alongside you through all 3. Ashley/Kaidan and Liara are there for the other 2. All the other romance options are only there through 1 of the events. That, to me, does not provide enough time together for them to get married.

Don't get me wrong, Jack's romance was my favourite. I'm not signalling out because of what romances I did or did not like.

No, there is evidence that less people are waiting. There is no evidence that eventually nobody will wait, while there is evidence that is against that notion.

What "good reasons"?

What "good reasons"?

Would love to see that evidence.

Because sex is fun and healthy?

Because it's a good thing to know if you're sexually compatible with your partner before committing?

Because you don't gain anything from waiting till marriage, especially not as a guy?

Because the whole "you shouldn't have sex before marriage" -nonsense is outdated and actually somewhat oppressive?

Because you're only young once and you might regret not living your youth to the fullest once you're old and committed to someone who turns out to be not all that sexually compatible with you?

Because monogamy is against our human nature and not having sex before marriage even more so?

The list goes on.

To be fair, that's all your opinion the same goes for me and the other poster above. IMO I'd rather wait and have sex with the right partner rather than sticking my d!ck with every women I see only to find out she isn't the right one or she also had a previous d!ck in her... why are we even talking about this?

This post made me laugh. Actually that would be kind of fun! Hahahahaha
I still wonder where all my ME1 credits went when in ME2...damned Liara spent it all!

Liara took Shepard's apartment in Mass Effect 1.

There are still plenty of religious people who follow their religion's commandments. Or do you think religion will disappear too? If so, we have nothing else to discuss since our two sides are too far apart for a middle ground to be found.

Still waiting for good reasons. I mean objectively good, not subjectively good.
