I recently began another playthrough of Mass Effect. When I imported my ME1 character though I approached by Liara during the opening sequence. Isn't your ME1 romance supposed to come approach you?
Did my game not import correctly? Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a way to correct it?
This is the 2nd time it happened. After the first time I actually played through the entirety of ME1 again in the hopes of correcting it. Is there any way to fix this? Any help is appreciated.

You could look at your ME2 save with Gibbed saved game editor, if it doesn't say the right me1 romance in your ME1 Imported Plot Table, & ME1 Plot Table, you can just change it.

Gibbed save game editor? I have no clue what that is. I am on ps3.

Other people have used it on PS3 saves, but it's a lot more mucking around.

I've only used it on PC saves.

This seems to be a common bug. Liara always shows up on PS3 unfortunately, no matter who was previously romanced

I haven't gotten back on the new Normandy yet so haven't gone to the captains quarters yet. Is this just a glitch and will still have Ashleys picture on the desk or does the import read like I romanced Liara?

I think you don't need to worry. In my last playthrough, when I romanced Kaidan, his picture appeared too, even though Liara was the one during the intro scene

It is apparently just some kind of glitch, but you should have Ashley as active romance.

We PS3 players are really screwed in this regard. I would've loved to see my LI in the beginning, not Liara.

I romanced Ashley and it was T'soni that showed up at the beginning.

 

If no one is romanced in ME1, Liara will always show up in the beginning of ME2

I agree. Would have much rather seen Ash instead of Liara. I hope you're right. I'll find out later.
