I was wondering, with regard to using the Dragon Age Keep & World State Imports for Inquisition:

how close do your "Canon" World State Warden(s) and Hawke(s) match your Playthrough versions?  Do you put every decision in the Keep Tapestry *exactly* as you did in your original playthroughs?  Are there things you alter? If so, why / if not, why not?  Definitely for "alternate" playthroughs, but I'm talking Canon world states.

I'm doing some playthroughs of DA:O & DA2 right, and looking forward to putting the characters into my keep, and was curious how others went about it.  Do you feel you have to have done something in a playthrough in order to select it in the Keep? Do you ever make everything topsy turvy, or are there certain world state factors you want to have every time?  Etc.

Looking forward to hearing responses!

Cheers!

I have the Keep set up exactly how I played them. I worked hard to beat DAO and DAA from start to finish and the same with DA2 and its DLC. All my choices added new quests in DA2 and special appearances in it and DAA, so I'm proud to have my DAI world a result of actual hard work without cheating or skipping stuff and adding it to the Keep later.

They are right about one thing though. The first time you beat DAO there is a feeling you can never experience again. It was an incredible finish and to see the credits role after killing the Archdemon and celebrating at the coronation and reading an amazing epilogue I made happen through my efforts... it was a thrill I wouldn't feel again on my second playthrough or ever. I'm glad I got to experience it once, and it won't stop me from playing any of them again. but I'll never forget it. DA2 and DAI never even came close to feeling like that and I played them before DAO. It's special. No doubt in my mind about that.

For my canon playthrough it wasn't hard to keep the tapestry exactly the same as I played it. But there are some choices where I either didn't feel like doing in-game at the time or failed to do but changed in the tapestry for variety in other playthroughs. For example I don't really like missing content by killing or sending away companions in-game, but I have picked that option in the tapestry in certain playthroughs.

I played it right the first time. So the Keep reflects what I did in the game.

As for the Keep reflecting what I did, well... there are some minor nuances in the game that the Keep does not reflect. For example, my Hero gave the Ostagar prisoner food without talking to him about the key. So he never knew anything about the mage's cache. Then in Return to Ostagar he was able to loot the prisoner's body for the key, and then get better loot from the cache. Keep doesn't reflect this option at all, so I had to pick the closest thing to it, which was "gave food, got key".

Another is Rogek's lyrium deal. The Keep only allows to select "didn't complete" or "completed". No option to say you killed him when he wouldn't surrender to authorities.

"Handled the Crimson Oars" is another. The depiction shows them bloodied, but I persuaded them to leave peacefully. So I had to pick the "handled" option.

Oh, but now that I look at it, there is one thing that I did select in Keep that I couldn't do in the game. I selected the option to reunite Oghren and Felsi, because in the game I couldn't get this option due to the approval bug. But it's what my Hero would have done if not for the bug.

This is how I feel-- not that it's "cheating" per se, but that I have to "earn" the choices in my playthrough to put them in the keep.

Looking forward to the feeling you're referring to! (First time playing DA:O still going on for me).

Cheers!

I generally do input every single choice into the Keep exactly as I made it in the game. The exception to this would be a game result that required an action that I was either unwilling or unable to take. For example, in DAO you can have Bella take over the tavern, after which she renames it The Warden's Rest, but in order to do that you have to force Lloyd to fight and let him die. I'm OK with forcing him to fight, but can never quite work the death angle as I try to save as many NPCs as I can during the fighting.

I think the only significant change I made originally in the Keep was to say my Warden defiled the Ashes.  In my actual playthrough, she actually didn't, but she did kill Genitivi to keep the Ashes concealed.  Since the Keep gives extremely limited options for all the various Haven sequences, though, I felt like that was the next best thing.  I'm not sure it makes any difference in Inquisition, though, anyway.

After the fact, I did make some changes to my canon, though, notably to Hawke's class, since was I'd played a Warrior and was really ticked they stuck her with a shield instead of a greatsword.  Although I do plan to go back and replay Origins and DA2 in order to have an actual series of playthroughs that match my Keep state, just because, hey, it's an excuse to play through again.
