It's more of a defensive buff to Stealth instead of offensive if that helps. I think the Assassin is totally fine damage-wise, just needs some tweaks to make her not die accidentally when creatures look at you on higher difficulties. Hunter is another story - in my mind Alchemist, Arcane Warrior, and Hunter have some identity crisis issues with how their abilities synergize.

So, what does that stealth defense buff entail?  Attacks on you while in stealth wont connect?  Wont knock you out of stealth?

And I cant wait to see a revision of the Hunter.

Oh my, are we getting class reworks?

Speaking of defensiveness of stealth, it should be better at dropping aggro. Enemy attacks should not keep tracking you after you enter stealth. I would gladly accept a nerf on distance/duration you can stay next to most targets while stealthed in exchange for it actually being being usable as a juking tool.

Whats a good build for her? Recently got the Hakkon dagger and Savage Thorn and am getting a little burnt on Izzy.

I have multiple assassin builds right here:

She's a real treat to use once you learn how to play her. It does take some time though, learning when and when not to use abilties, positioning yourself, aggro management, everything.

See, that's where I'm a bit torned about the Assassin.

Assassin's damage
I've got the 2 best daggers of the game (Hakkon and Savage Torn) and over 100+ Willpower and Cunning. I need to use everything at my disposal to be able to 1-shot something on Nightmare. So yes, she's "fine" damage-wise because she can actually kill things 1-shot.

Still, that's a problem. It's not normal to need everything you got to actually play like she's supposed to be. She could benefit from a small buff so you don't need all the best in slot equipment to make her work. That would open up the kit to other players that don't have everything.

She's already a powerhouse in Perilous because she 1-shot everything, having her do more damage wouldn't unbalance her since the extra damage is wasted, dead is dead, no matter if it's by 5 damage or 1000. On the other hand, it would make her work better in higher difficulties and play to her strong suits.

Assassin's defense
The problem with her defenses is not as much as when she's in Stealth but much more about when she's not. When you're hit while in Stealth, you're not playing her "right", your positioning is wrong, it's your own damn "fault".

Also, we all know her abilities have sometimes a hard time to connect. Losing Stealth not only makes her damage go down considerably, which in turn makes her cooldown longer, but it makes her completely sitting ducks and vulnerable.

I would suggest a cooldown reduction on Stealth, maybe 16 seconds instead of 24? Her abilities mostly have 8 seconds cooldown, if you can't really use those out of Stealth in Nightmare then you might as well give her a little fighting chance and lower the cooldown on Stealth.

If you want to give her more survivability in and out of Stealth, you might want to look at the Evasion passive. Boosting that passive from 5% to a range between 35 to 45% would catapult her survivability near the same ballpark as the Duelist. It would also help the Alchemist and the Hunter survivability. Simply replace the passive on the Archer if you're worried about making him more overpowered than he already is.

Crisis identity
Totally agree with you on Alchemist, Arcane Warrior and Hunter having an identity crisis. Although, the Arcane Warrior is very powerful even without Spirit Blade and the Alchemist can be a force to reckon with if played right. Both can be devastating on Nightmare, even if they suffer an identity crisis of some sort. Only the Hunter seems very clunky...

What's missing for the Hunter
I think his best "unique" ability (Throwing Knives) is too far down the tree. It makes him a copy of the Archer until he gets that.

Stealth is also problematic without I Was Never Here. I still don't understand why this wasn't in the tree since the launch as it's essential to keep yourself in Stealth. Opportunity Knocks could also fit the bill to a lesser extent. If you want to make the Hunter a top tier character, give him both I Was Never Here and Opportunity Knocks. The last one opens up a lot of possibilities...

Finally, what's missing the most for the Hunter is the ability to play his strong suits: close range and dancing around the enemies. To that end, I would suggest giving him Avvar's Furious Blows that would help him close the gap between him and his enemies. Adding a second passive that boost his mobility while firing, the same way as the Virtuoso auto-attack, would help tremendously too.

So technically, what I think the Hunter needs is more mobility and a way to deal damage more efficiently. All my suggestions are toward that. I concentrate on Stealth and mobility, isn't it what the Hunter should be about?

I personally love the hunter and the alchemist. Once the lightbulb clicks on and you realize how she can really tear it up, she becomes a completely different beast. There were times this weekend where I channeled Luka and literally laughed out loud and the carnage I was creating. I also really like the hunter but he feels like hes just not quite there maybe 10% off of where he needs to be damage and xp-wise.

The assassin is utter garbage, IMO. I know some claim to be good with her and it is a L2P thing, but why learn to play her when I don't get rewarded for playing her correctly, can't really do any damage until I grab deathblow and IWNH (late in the levels) and in the end would do less for the team in terms of xp than a level 1 zither spamming hometown anthem?

I'm going to guess an something like Isa's Elusive when you get into stealth.
