I wonder if you guys look out your windows at night and worry that someone has destroyed the sun.
I'm worried that in 26,000 years, the y chromosome will vanish and men will no longer be born.

That's pretty much every game now a days though. Hate to say it, but majority just don't use Keyboards anymore for their games. Even first person shooter players use custom controllers with back buttons and customized sticks over keyboards.
I don't mind it when it's appropriate and the best choice. There are entire genres of games that are better with gamepads. RPGs and shooters are not among them though. Aiming in FPS without a mouse? That's too slow.
There are hundreds of games that exist only for the PC.
I'm happy with that. It's easy to map gamepad controls onto keyboard and mouse and designing for a gamepad should help you design tighter controls. Should, though I suspect radial power menus have opened the Pandora's box of control bloat.
No, it's not just about mapping the controls (also, look at how they failed to do that properly in DA:I), you need completely different menus and designs. Radial menus on PC? Why? We could hotkey hundreds of abilities with the keyboard alone.
Look at the inventory for DA:I. It displays only 4 items at once and forces you to scroll through tabs - if that was designed with KB & mouse in mind, then it would look completely different.
"Tighter controls"? What do you mean with that? Sounds more like a buzzword.
@ 0:25 => "act with integrity" cup
screw off bioware lol
Meh, I didn't even notice that at first.
Now that I am aware of it, well, this guy is new to the team. It's not like they were interviewing Mac Walters.
THEN that would have been really insulting ![]()

And there goes my water right up my nose.
On Topic: Interesting video, hope to hear more.

Stupid ones might. KBM is far superior to a controller in that genre.
I bet that as soon as somebody brought that "integrity cup" into the building an EA boss went.
"I feel a great disturbance in the dark side.. there's something that does not belong here"
And another suggested: "But could it be turned ..it could become a powerful asset?"
And the first went: "Yes... yes".
It feels more like a coporate add, "Join us at Bioware Montreal, a good working environment", than a game add. There's absolutely no content in it for me and absolutely nothing about the making of new worlds except for... breaking news : it requires teamwork.
Moreso an attempt to show off the people working on the game.
Not much new info, but they are trying to make the team personable. It's very similar to Nintendo and their Nintendo directs, only using youtube instead.
BioWare devs are turning more and more into politicians with every day, managing to say a lot of things without actually saying anything at all. If only they were more like Bernie Sanders.
Nice video, and by a superficial analysis they didn't let anything juicy escape.
Of course not, they already have people complaining about the lack of Keyboard+Mouse in a staged video that likely had nothing genuine being shown or done in regards to the game itself, which doesn't come out for a year. To say nothing of the Coffee cup which is apparently highly offensive. Can you imagine the complaining if they'd dared to show a screenshot or concept art? Actually you don't have to as after the first game play preview for DA:I Fans complained about Cassandra smashing down the gate to a fortress. The days of Bioware letting cute little tidbits like that slip are likely over.

The point of the video was to give you an idea of the kind of people working on Mass Effect, and their passion for the project. If you were expecting a deep dive into systems or even a hint of gameplay this far out from release, especially considering how previous glimpses of work in progress have been used against Bioware and other game companies, you were hoping for too much.
Heck Bethesda decided to say nothing about Fallout 4 until E3 and that game drops later this year. Not sure why you're surprised Bioware is being tight lipped on details.

The control complaint exists independently from the video and has more to do with DA:I and its preceeding BioWare videos.
It's like watching a baker using a construction worker's tools to do his job... it might work, but it's questionable. ![]()

......then that's an issue to take up with the DA team. At present people are complaining about controllers in MA:A before we've even seen the gameplay.

Because the reasons BioWare used controllers for DA:I haven't changed. They are going to use them for ME:A, too.
My sides are in orbit, Jesus chocolate fuсking Christ people on here are so triggered. Suddenly a random coffee mug with a generic English motivational phrase on it is some kind of intentional slight?
I really, really hope the Reapers return, starbrat shows up, we get another RGB ending at some point and the "Ark" is not actually in game but an IRL ship biower is building to survive the flood of tears.
OT: This is bloody boring and reveals nothing. Typical corporate speak.

Soooo, because they plan to give people the option to use a controller, and despite not having seeing the game in action, people are complaining about a video showing a controller being used for something unseen....when the focus of the video was not on the gameplay itself...perhaps a more productive idea would be to request seeing K+Y controls in a future gameplay video. That might seem more reasonable than loudly declaring this game a "Pi** Poor console port."
Edit:
I should also point out that people complained about the lack of controller support on PC for ME3. It was bad enough that Bioware put out an official statement about the issue. Seriously, people just have to find something to complain about, whether it's coffee cups, controllers or being given certain romantic options.

Aw, this is heartwarming. Saw this in the twitter thread, but I did not thank you there, so thank you for sharing ![]()
Besides the fact that he pretty much describes my average day at work - waltz in, drink coffee, check e-mails, shoot breeze with co-workers, talk about them Dodgers, attend meetings - the life of a creative professional is SO RIVETING ![]()
This guy used to work on Kingdoms of Amalur before coming over to ME:A. I was so happy to hear he got the job (what happened to 38 studios is so damned heartbreakingly sad) and I am even more happy to see that he is doing well. This may not be a groundbreaking new reveal, but I like videos like that, ones that show you the faces and minds behind the games we play and allow us a peek at the creative process. Fingers crossed for the entire team - make this one great!
And I really, really, really do not mean to sound condescending, but reading some of the above replies - damn, you guys, cheer up a bit. So many of these responses - it is not even snark, it sounds just like - well, the word acidic comes to mind. All these jabs and fangs - I have been noticing this for some time, and is this really the best this forum can do? We are sitting here, taking potshots at an inspirational slogan on a coffee mug.
A coffee mug. As in "a receptacle whose primary purpose is to facilitate imbibition". With some writing on it. Come on, you guys. Are we not better than this?
Dude, I'm following IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, PcGamer, BioWare itself and a few other gaming sites. How come I haven't seen this until now? Thanks for posting this.
Well, there's not much to see, but I'm curious about the 0.5 secs of footage we have from their monitors...

During the run up to Mass Effect 2 a posters called the devs "Floozies" for providing new romance options and demanded a dev be censured for implying that the new characters could be more compelling than the ones in ME 1. During the run up to Dragon Age Origins, people complained about the music in the CGI trailer, Leilana's back flip and other things.
So to answer your question....no we are not better than that.
Meanwhile, Konami is kicking Kojima to the curb while scrubbing his name from his magnum Opus and Randy Pitchford is cheerfully rewriting history to paint himself as a hero after the Colonial marines incident.

I like this sort of stuff, where give an insight into the process. Stuff like Jos talking on Twitter about the joy at watching a level take shape pass after pass, or Barrett's ongoing attempts to parley a game dev job into a stand-up career.

I know, right? People are too busy making storms in a coffeecup to notice. As far as I can tell, it's a Mako parked on top of a hill. Not totally new, but a little easter egg all the same.

You may very well be right, and it is just so disheartening. Yes, people will always complain and it is impossible to please everybody everywhere every time, but these forums have, by my rough estimation, about a 70% negativity level. That is unusually high for forums our size.

I think we need to put on some Elvis to mellow out a bit:

Making storms in coffeecups
Hilarious and apt - I LOVE IT ![]()
Seriously, they can't even have a cup with "integrity" written on it? My dudes.
Someone at bioware should get a shirt that says that just to trigger people ![]()
Which genres work better with a pad?
Fighting games, Jump'n run, sports games like FIFA and most Shoot'em up games. I used a gamepad for these on PC, too.

Have you played DA:I on PC? http://forum.bioware...unity-concerns/
I don't care about ME3 in this context, this is about BioWare's current and new games based on Frostbite 3. People asking for gamepads for ME3 when they can use the mouse are morons who have no business playing a shooter. Ask the console players how often they score a headshot compared to the PC gamers.
Controllers will not simply be an option, they will develop with controllers in mind because the majority of gamers plays on consoles. PC is the third and least important demographic.
I haven't declared the game to be anything yet, so try not to build a strawman here, k?
If you think remapping the gamepad to KB & mouse is enough for a proper port, then you lack experience. The more complex a game is, the less comfortable it is controlled with a gamepad. This is where the PC controls shine because the mouse gives you a much better and faster access than a gamepad ever could. Keyboards allow you to skip radial menus and other sub menu/support structures, which speeds things up considerably.
DA:I was accused of being dumbed down, simplified and lacking alternative options... which was the only way of condensing DA to work flawlessly on consoles. A quickbar limited to 8 slots is just a bad joke to a PC gamer, especially if we had more than a hundred slots before. Not that this amount was unproblematic but I felt very, very limited in DA:I and struggling with the menus was more difficult than any fight. ![]()
The issue here is: DA:I sold very well and got good ratings. From a business point of view BioWare was successful with their strategy, so they are most likely going to repeat it with ME:A. Except for a percentage of the smaller demographic of PC gamers everyone was happy with the controls.
I don't kow what ME3 looks like on the consoles but I assume the menus are more or less the same... which is fine because here it works for both input devices.
I am only asking that BioWare is taking all this account when they design the menus and controls for ME:A. I'm fairly confident that they won't abolish mouse aiming but for the rest... well, DA:I was a warning.
I don't care about the cup at all and I still want to know what a level designer is demonstrating for his team with a gamepad.
And I really, really, really do not mean to sound condescending, but reading some of the above replies - damn, you guys, cheer up a bit.
We really need some reasons to cheer up, and BioWare isn't giving us any.
