I'm going back to playing Mass Effect on PC this Fall. I'm going to build a PC, with some help.
Anyway, I already have an Origin account, and I did play ME3 on PC. The question is what is going to happen to my N7 Rank, and Inventory (Characters, weapons, etc.) after installing a new copy of ME3, and logging in to that same Origin account. My N7HQ is linked to my Origin account just like everyone else on PC. I have a lot of characters and weapons in my inventory

Should remain at what they were when you last played.

Why would you install a new copy? That would start you over from scratch again.

hy not just install the copy that you had on the old PC? It's only a matter of installing Origin and telling it to download the copy that you already have in your account.

I had the Discs. I don't have it anymore. And I'm going to buy the Trilogy set.

If you registered it on Origin you can download the digital version and retain your goodies from before.

You play on PC. You'll have everything within minutes.

But what if I want to install a new copy? Will I be able to this? It's a new PC, afterall. I like having a physical copy.

Everything you have will carry over.  I had two installs of ME3 on PC.  The only thing you need is to sync up your saves to the cloud prior to starting your second install (otherwise, your achievements get zapped away).  Your MP profile is safe.

Well, in terms of Saves, they no longer exist on PC. Didn't play on PC for 2 years. I played on PS3 2 years ago (All three games.). It was fun, but now I realize the things I missed about playing on PC (Hot Keys, Keyboard/Mouse Controls, and better Quality overall!).

I don't mind starting over in terms of Story and Achievements though.

This. I'm sure I said this too.

But then you will have to start from scratch with a new manifest. You said you didn't want to do that.

I think he implied that he used to play on PC.  The PC manifest would remain in the same state he left it the last time he played.  The PS3 manifest definitely doesn't carry over.

Had the disks, but don't have them anymore.... what were you doing, practicing Dragon Age vanishing magic acts that went horribly wrong?

My mulitplayer characters, weapons, equipment were still there, but my N7 rank reset. Like you I went two years without playing and when I finally opened the mulitplayer, my stuff was still there

All MP stuff is stored server-side, so your manifest will still be there. Your galactic readiness is cross-platform, so if you've played recently on PS3, that will carry across, not that it makes a real difference.

ME3 will still be on your Origin account, so you definitely will be able to just download it, but if you want to do it from disc then that's your choice. It honestly won't make any difference though.

Your grammar is terribad. Are you doing this on purpose to rile QMR up into having angry robotic sex with you or something? Because she's mine. She doesn't know it yet, but she is.

That's exactly what I was implying.

Origin is required and MP data is saved on the server always. As long as you're on the same account it'll keep it.

Another question. When playing ME1 and ME2 on PC, I was able to launch both games without Origin. I only needed Origin to open ME3. Will it still be this way when I buy the Trilogy box set on PC? I heard that some people had trouble starting ME1 because they downloaded it from Origin.

And is it true that ME1 in the Trilogy Box Set has Bring Down The Sky and Pinnacle Station already on the Disk? I've never played Pinnacle Station before.

I played all three on PS3. It was fun, but there are more advantages in terms of Graphics and Controls/Gameplay on PC. Mass Effect is my favorite game series. I started on Xbox 360, then switched to PC, then to PS3. I want to play it on the platform that gives Mass Effect the best possibly quality and playability, and it is on PC. There are more controls and graphic options. I had the ME3 Deluxe Edition on PC, but not anymore. What better way to return to PC than buying the Trilogy Box Set?

One of my worries is the reliability of my PC after building it. I'm also worried about how long it will last. Sooner or later I would have to replace a few parts. How long can a new graphics card last, until it can no longer play new games properly?

Well...theoretically, as long as you look after it properly (i.e. use adequate cooling and don't try to use settings that your GPU can't achieve) it should last until it's been effectively outdated (sooner or later new games will exceed your specs and you'll be unable to run them). You probably know this already, but just make sure your fan (or water cooler) is working properly, keep your rig somewhere cool, and check your graphics settings carefully (if you're using an NVIDIA card then download Experience, which will optimise your graphics settings for you, giving the best possible graphics that your machine can safely run) and it should last you a long time.

if you're using an NVIDIA card then download Experience, which will message you every day offering to "optimise" your graphics settings for you,

Fixed.

I was hoping to have specs that would allow me to have "Max Settings" for a very long time. I'm torn between AMD and Nvidia. Some say AMD is best, but others say Nvidia is best. My previous time playing on PC was on a Laptop.

My plan was to buy all the cross platform games I play for PC. They all looked better on PC on platform comparison videos. These games are the Mass Effect series, Assasin's Creed, Mirror's Edge, Batman Arkham, and Alien Isolation. I'm going to buy Mass Effect: Andromeda for PC. There's also Star Wars: Battlefront coming this fall.

I'm buying all cross platform games that I enjoy playing--and are available for PC-- for the PC. I plan on playing only console exclusives on my PS3 and PS4. Hell, I might purchase an XB1.

I looked at the recommended requirements for games like Assassin's Creed Unity on PC, and the specs are high. And the specs increase each year?

Keep I mind that I'm not a competitive gamer. I play to have fun.

What if I were to buy an AMD R9 380 graphics card? How good would that be? What if I buy parts that don't fit together when building a PC. How do you know which part are compatible with others?
