Tech armor was stupid. Give them something different.

I would like classes in ME:A to be more diverse and customizable. The ability to try different characters with a lot of different power combinations in the ME3 multiplayer was really fun. In short: I want to play ME:A as Fury, Paladin or Demolisher...
I would prefer no specific class. Just give us skill points and let us do the rest.
It's been a while since I played a Mass Effect game. What do you mean by 'Soldier: 5 combat slots... Adept: 6 biotic'?
The problem is that fully customizable classes tend to look the same as players discover which abilities are most effective. It took me a long time to get here, but I've finally come around to supporting more rigid classes for the sake of niche protection and replayability.
We can't limit those of us with imaginations, because other people would wish to play this single-player game the easiest way they can.
This isn't pvp multiplayer. I don't really believe anyone actually plays Mass Effect games in such a boring way and hope the idea that they do, or would, doesn't influence Bioware. ![]()

I like the idea, although I think they should implement other stuff for each class to make them a bit more unique beyond 1 iconic ability.
I'd also say that Nova should be the Vanguard's second ability rather than Slam, since Slam is a bonus power and Nova is designed to synergize with Biotic Charge.
If they included the new abilities we got from ME3 MP(which I hope they do), then we could have a lot of interesting builds and I suspect we wouldn't really come up with 1 or 2 dominant ones.
Even on the "design your own kit" threads we occasionally got on the ME3 MP forums there wasn't really a unified setup that people agreed would beat out anything else. Some people wanted to go Biotic Charge + Nova + Annihilation Field while others wanted to go Hunter Mode + Devastator Mode + Marksman.

I do not envy the game design team who'd have to balance all that.

Please make Tech Armor optional... or at the very least allow us to choose what color it glows. Tech Armor basically took away a lot of enthusiasm I had when playing the Sentinel.
That's what mods are for.

While overpowered builds would be possible, they would also become very boring after one or two missions. I'd like to see this limited to the singleplayer anyway so other players wouldn't get hurt by someone making the game too easy for themselves. Replayability would probably even increase. I'd play the game with many different builds, at the moment there are some classes that I have absolutely no interest in in the singleplayer but that have great builds in MP.

There are other games that managed to do similar things relatively well. The ME3 multiplayer being one of them (even though there was no completely free power choice). It doesn't have to be perfectly balanced either. Personally I think that Vanguards in ME3 were already overpowered. But yes there would probably be a lot of number crunching involved.

I say give us more different characters (kits) per class to choose from like it is in ME3MP.
A custom kit could be the reward for finishing a New Game + on Insanity, unlocking a Platinum like difficulty that is more a playgound for the most OP kits people can create, but a custom kit right from the start is too much.

Unlocking abilities during a play through, just like the weapons and then later on being able to start a new game with them available (like bonus powers) for custom kits sounds like a good compromise to me. I wouldn't want to be locked in to one build for an entire play through though.
Or each class can only start as the basic kit and then later in the game be customized more and more.
