Edit: The reality is that the gaming community should not be held accountable for Bioware's management of this issue.

That's the only valid point you've made in the entire thread.

And my counterpoint is the stats they boosted should be taken away. Beyond that I could care less what happens to the cheaters.

It's simply not right that these people are getting XP in 15 minutes that took the honorable, non-cheating players absolute hours of work.

Here's a better idea, why not just nuke the darn leaderboards to 0 so it doesn't alienate the newcomers when they see the bloated points that have been accrued.

Are you f_____g crazy?!

Someone would come to BW HQ and start shooting.

(But,that would be hilarious :D-LB reset, not this other thing)

So after 7 months of glitches, crashes, bugs and reload screens you want to take away even more XP?
And in so doing ruin the game for the majority and forcing DAMP into extinction?
I certainly hope not.
You can have my prestige though, it's completely worthless to me.

Wait what?? He is simply asking to take away the exp gained through glitches. How is that unfair? Bug age (mack_yoshi right?) And I has been playing simce game release. We lived through all of the bug and glitches. It affected everyone. I don't think it is okay for people to glitch, citing prior glitches as an excuse. Thats a terrible argument. Stop cheating to get ahead of others and trying to defend yourself. The majority of players do not cheat, it would not ruin the game for us. Not fixing the bug and not punishing cheaters would ruin the game for the majority.

You are offering up prestige since you dont care about it. You obviously care about the ill gotten stats though. That is like used steroids to get the home run record and got caugh: then offering up the games you won but asking to keep the records.

It is insulting for those of us who played since release to hear you guys using the trials we played through prior to justify using the glitch.

And honestly it's sad to see dedicated leaderboard players rage quitting the game after so much seriously hard work to stay in the top 20 for so long.

If you bitter forum trolls would actually play a match with someone on the leaderboard you'd realize there is no reason to bicker about who has prestige and who doesn't, who has good weapons and who doesn't.

As long as you put a solid effort into the game, anyone deserves to be respected as a player, high prestige or not.

That's better.

Yes it is sad.
I am in no way bitter.
I have never had the opportunity to play with Leaderboard players due to many months of slogging it out with Aussie pugs in threatening.
I put a lot of effort into that, I promoted my Archer 47 times before I even saw my first xp lobby.
Thankfully the players I play with do respect my efforts, we have farmed all our Dragon and Hakkon Weapons together, before xp too.
I also understand that you believe you have the rite to be more powerful than me due to time and skill.
In this regard I would refer you to my very first invalid point.

I own the game. I'll do what I want with it.

I'm not using xp to get ahead of others. I am using it to improve my characters to a point where I can sustain a style of gameplay I am comfortable with. I am well shy of leaderboard status as are all my friends and I can't fathom how any of my actions in anyway effect your gaming environment. I do understand that the glitch itself is causing you grief, especially if you pug or strive for position.

Your analogy about steroids needs to be swapped for: I want to keep the games not the records.

I have an analogy to: if you bought an ice cream and then the guy next to you bought 4 ice creams for the same price, would you be angry at him or the guy that sold them?

The bottom line is we both love this game and your fun has been ruined by a management decision while my fun has gone up a notch by a well known loop hole. One that I agree, needs to be fixed.

My analogy was bad, I admit. And to answer your question, I would be mad at the guy who sold it AND the guy who got 4 icecream. I want the extra icecream to be taken away. I would then complain to management and have the seller switch so this does not happen again. Hater going to hate, and I do hate cheaters.

If you didn't invest the time like us then you do not deserve the same rewards. It effects my gaming environment because I feel that the the time I have invested have somewhat been a waste.

I am angry at bioware for creating the bug and havent fixed it yet. I'm more angry at those of you who are promoting it's usage and defending your action and stance on the crude those of us who have been here since the beginning had to deal with much more than you ever did.

Ahhh, straight from the heart.
I respect that and out of respect will no longer promote its use on the forums.
I have been playing DAMP since Jan 1 and have also ridden highs and lows but above all I love the game and hope it has a future.
It should start with this glitch being fixed.
ASAP.
In the mean time I do like my 4 ice creams but I will ensure they never impact the top 100.

Sincerely,
KARnage

Sometimes I wonder if they should do a large scale rollback affecting EXP/promotions/prestige only, then make it up for all players with a 2x experience event or something.

And then giving some CON to everyone for those who cannot play during the compensation event or something. I doubt most players get that many promotions quickly, especially the newer players, but it can be frustrating for newer players to have their 2 points of Willpower taken away.

Hope not! I put in 16hrs yesterday!!
I really do love this game a lot :)
Honestly, prestige adjustments are the best you can hope for.
For me, I'm hoping for Hakkon Bow.

It's been a good argument, i certainly respect your point of view.
I hope you stick with DAMP. Long term players are what keeps the game rolling on.
And I seriously hope BW sorts their shitt out.

Its nice seeing someone being so forthcoming about cheating. TBH we can't expect people to not cheat while the governing body is not doing anything about it. They are not even really addressing the issue despite the storm the forum is currently in. I know Fiddz and Luke are reading the threads, they are posting on other less active threads.

It is in human nature to cheat. But people should not try to defend cheating and convince the populous that it is okay since the government isn't doing anything about it. Would lead to breakdown of society. IE: the mess that D3 is in on console.

Once again thanks to karnage for agreeing to not promote cheating.

People, people who need people are the luckeist people in the world. . .

Haven't done it yet but when I do,  that will be my song.

This is all so twilight zone to me. I feel like everytime I log into the game now, EA & Bioware may have sought out the expertise of the NSA to track peoples progress in this game. A good gaming friend of mine asked me awhile back, before all this patched in 2x xp crap, if I was going to get a PS4 and join some others on ESO. Seeing how  Bioware has let it be known that the PS3 version of DA:I MP has a short shelf life, thats not looking so bad.

I can count the number of reasons I've kept playing this game as long as I have on almost both hands.

Those reasons are people. Bioware is Bioware after all. I don't see them turning the water to wine. Besides, the honeymoon has long since past.

To clarify more. What happened with D3 was that blizzard did not stop hacking on the console. There was uproat on their forums as well, people would say that since they bought the game, they can do anything they want with it. The results was that blizzard never did anything. Hacking was so rampant that the community dwindled and died. It was a good game with much more content and dlcs, however the community died. No one cared anymore since the time they put in ment nothing.

Just an example, karnage, I don't mean to antagonize you since you seem very reasonale. Anyways, you said that u put 16 hrs in yesterday and got stats. What if I said someone just input a code into the game system(less than 10 seconds) and got all of the stats you worked over 16 hours for AND the hakkon bow? And then he came into your game and just one shot everything. I don't know about you but I would be very upset. If it was real life, I would come over and slap the icecream right out of that guy's hands.

And you would receive a nice punch in the jaw for doing so. I just got on Diablo 3 and found a non-modded lobby right away though I will agree it was a fair part of my leaving other than I had every legendary in the game by that point  . I just feel the 2x exp while needing to be patched is something more akin to people duping gold and crafting materials in D3. It shortened the time they had to mindlessly grind items for money and crafting materials but it didn't make them instantly better or allow them to one-shot enemies like modded weapons did. If Bioware says or does nothing by the end of the stream this friday I worry anything will ever be done.

You have played with someone on leaderboard....me (Twice lol), and it was great fun with you and Yumi.  (double tbagging Yumi)

Pity you said your connection had you rubberbanding about though.  I guess Australia to UK isn't great connection...

Join me anytime you want if you want to try connection again.

You are right, i would get punched, and i would deserve it. But at least i stood up for what i believe in, albeit just harassing that guy enjoying his ill earned icecream.
Before i quit d3, i would spend 30 mins looking for non modded lobbies, was unsuccessful, then gave up. Happened for about a month almost everyday until i shelved it.

But my point was cheating is cheating. Duping gold or having modded weapons are the same, both cheating. If left unchecked, the non glitchers will stop playing. More glitches will apear, more abuse would rise. The DAIMP community would be left with people who only played for 1 month posting videos of themself soloing Heartbreaker as a lvl 1 alchemist and posting it.

Bearform, because you brought up Diablo 3, I would like to pass on my observations about that game.

It is true that people with "hacked" or "modded" gear could be found in "open to the public" games. I developed a friends list that would keep my gaming expeirence free from this exposure. Myself and my better half enjoyed several hours in games with friends I knew that didn't use hacked or modded gear. It was easy to spot that kind of gear. The same level of scrutiny can be applied to DAMP as well. Don't game with people you know or suspect are on the dole if it bothers you so. You have as much power in this game as I did in D3.

To be fair this game differs from D3 in some big ways. D3 had a trading system. DAMP does not. The gear in D3 could be modded thru hacking code. I don't think that has happened in DAMP. The way it can display HP numbers would be a dead give away.

Again, please forgive me, but we played the game for the pleasure of getting better gear with the friends on our list. We never even thoght about those that were hacking. It was mind over matter. We didn't mind because they didn't matter.

AHUH!!
Great points!

Nothing you've done or said had antagonised me Bearform, our discussion has been insightful.

I was unaware of D3's issues on console.
Quit it on PC due to constant nerfs on my real money gear. Hopefully BW IS aware and fixes their mistakes.

How would I feel?
My friends have the Bow and rub it in all the time whilst one shotting everything! lol
I would probably kick a random if I could discern he was bogus. I'm not generally an emotional person, certainly not jealous, but I do judge so I'm more inclined to just flip it off n not join his games.

I do have some good friends who I play with daily and if they were to leave then I probably would too.
Funnily enough my greatest xp explosion came from the purchase of a mic and meeting those friends: 100+ promotions n all my gear thanks to them.

I've been a pro at Halo and was hated on for not being on leaderboards but systematically destroying top players. What they didn't understand was that I played upto 8 player LANs regularly and knew every inch of every map.

I think my overall point is that I'm not too concerned about what people outside my little bubble are doing so long as we're having fun. But I am concerned for the future if D3 has set a precedent.

Hopefully BW do read this and take stock on how the community is shaping, the lessons of D3, the demographic of their player base and do set things right.

I would even sacrifice my 30 promotions if it ensured the future of the DAMP community and this beautifully flawed game.

Coffbear, thank you for the reply my fellow appreciator of bears.

I do see your point, it would just be okay if i just play with friends. But i enjoy playing with pugs, so it does bother me quite a bit. Im just voicing my opinion that they should fix the glitch and i believe most people would agree.

I'm also fearing that if they don't fix it, all of my legit friends would quit. There would be no more legit people to make friend with and play private games with. What you are proposing is very reasonable but not possible a lot of the time due to the current small amt of players. Half my friend list are playimg ESO. I'm just trying to say something so Fiddz and Luke can notice before 3/4 of my friend list are playing ESO.

My sentiments exactly
