Hello fellow inquisitors :o.

Im looking for some advice on a friendly fire "friendly" party, i want to spend most of the combat playing the inquisitor wich is dw rogue and requires a lot of micromanagement to be effective.

I dont mind using the tactical camera all the time to control the others, but it simply feels wrong that some builds cant quite do its job when friendly fire is on, im no pro at this game, i played as a warrior tank a lot, and i was in at the front takeing all the dmg, even the friendly dmg, but as you may already know, tanks are almost invencible in this game, now i want to play around with party banters, enjoy the game as a completionist, but for example i cant think of IronBull in my party, his builds kill my inquisitor before enemies, everything is freaking aoe!

So, in short, i want some advice on wich skills can be used with diferent classes to let the AI perform well without killing my inquisitor or forcing me to use all the potions in each fight (i play on nightmare btw), i dont really care if the builds arent optimal, my rogue can pretty much solo the game, i just want them to help a bit and do the banter things. I can only think of good tank builds without aoe friendly dmg, but the rest are impossible for me (without forcing them to be completely useless)

And if someone knows more about how skills and spells work, i would apreciate some information regarding aoe friendly dmg, cos there are some skills that are aoe but dont harm friends.

Thanks in advance.

With mage, don't get the upgraded winter's grasp or lightning bolt spells, as these do FF. Do not get chain lightning, as this causes FF even against the caster. That's pretty much it. Immolate is something you should get, but switch it off in tactics so you can choose when to use it. Trap spells are useless except against dragons. I wouldn't even bother with them, and I haven't.

For warriors, avoid the right side of two-handed. Meaning, the mighty blow and whirlwind talents. Both are FF. Block and slash and pommel strike are not FF. Or, if you do get these FF talents, then you should have a ranged party and let one of the warriors rush in to use those crowd control abilities. For this, you should have your mage (one or two of them) have static cage with the upgrade. This will keep the enemies clustered. Also, get the charge ability, just turn it off in tactics so you can choose when to use it.

With rogues, the only one you have to look out for is explosive shot. So turn that one off. Caltrops also hurt a little, but not much. They are mostly useless though.

And that's it. I don't think anything else causes FF. But there were some talents I didn't bother with, so there could be more. Blizzard, obviously.

Basically, you want to either have one melee and three ranged, OR you want sword and shield warriors instead of 2H. As a DW you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure your warriors keep the threat on them using taunt or challenge (taunt is better, actually it's called War Cry). And always try to attack from the side or back. Have the combat roll for warriors like Cassandra and maybe Blackwall (though I think Blackwall and The Iron Bull can get away with just having charge). Also have the leap move I can't remember the name of for your rogue, Sera, and Cole. Varric should be okay without it.

The upgraded fade step is a must for a player mage and Vivienne. You can give it to Solas and Dorian if you want, though I never did. It causes damage to enemies but not companions.

Also, be careful with Varric's mines. Those cause FF. Oh, and Cass' holy smite move does FF and isn't that effective against enemies or even demons. Just skip it. Iron Bull's berserk is lame. Skip that. Obviously Solas' focus ability causes massive FF damage, so be careful with that.

Jar of Bees is better than the antivan fire flask. Bees cause no FF, fire does.

Best of all, if you use a confusion grenade to take control of enemies, you can hit them with FF attacks to take down their life while they remain confused.

Thank you a lot man, you answered all the questions i had and even more, i really apreciate it. I wont be using Solas and Cole much, i dont find them interesting at least for this playthrough,

Maybe i ll use a mage after this, to micromanage all that ff spells more eficiently (i like to control the inquisitor most of the time).

DW assassination rogue dmg is sooooo broken xD, i went from double 600 hits with fangs, to 10000 dmg with just hidden blades and the mark and im only lvl 12 :/ insane.
