Funny you should say this.  The following was my submission for the Untold Relics of Thedas contest:

 

The Cold Kiss of the Scorpion Queen

Deep in the Hissing Wastes, the Scorpion Queen slumbered in her chambers, dreaming of the day her lucky suitor would arrive.  Over a thousand years had passed since her last lover went forth to spread her venomous progeny throughout the lands of the four-limbed.  Her sleep turned more restless with each passing decade.  

Two steps from death, Korlith, an outcast from Orzammar, parched and mirage-addled, stumbled into the Scorpion Queen's lair, awakening her lust.  Ancient magic concealing her true form, she coupled with the hapless Dwarf and left him with her spawn and a gift - an amulet inlaid with emeralds.  He was sent along with a warning to never mar the perfection of the amulet lest its enchantments turn upon its owner.

Korlith's good fortune expired before he reached Val Royeaux, when he tried to pry loose an emerald to pay his tab at a dusty roadside inn.  A Templar patrol found his body along with the poison-bloated bodies of the inn's other patrons.  It was still frozen, and covered in strange wounds that looked as if small creatures had burst from beneath his skin.  The amulet disappeared that day, and passed into legend.     


Amulet abilities:
Passive effect - Permafrost, 30% bonus resistance to Cold and Physical Damage.
Passive effect - Poison enchanted, all weapon attacks deal Poison damage at 25% weapon damage.
Passive effect - On Hit: 10% chance to spawn a toxic cloud at target location.
