It seems very likely that we'll see new, deep road related, DLC drop soon. And it would make sense if that would also mean we'd get a new map and faction for the MP part as well.
Darkspawn sounds fun for MP. Architect as a boss? Or perhaps a broodmother?

I would prefer to have more new characters with unique skills, and implementing SP companions will get in the way of that. The protagonists and companions are better enjoyed in SP anyway.
It'd be nice to have them narrate missions, though. Imagine having the occasional mission with Varric's novel narration! Or Vivienne saying "Dear, I sent your death squad for my own benefit".

DA:O introduce blight, shows that fighting with darkspawns can't end well, that some wound on battlefield can end with death of blight.
And at the same time, where we have multiple examples in pretty much all dragon age games about this fact we just fight with darkspawn without any danger of anything.
In DA:O only two ppl was wardens, so lore-wise immune to this effect, still Leliania does not have problems with being after every fight whole in darspawn blood.
In DA2 for some reason we some multiple deaths from "wound" making it even true for Hawke brother/sister. But on the other hand we have full DLC made around darkspawn and nobody there we don't have problem with Isabela or whatever getting sick.
In DAI there aren't many darkspawn, like few small groups which I can understand are killed and nobody would hurt. But if you want to add some huge darkspawn elements to DAI you need to explain me how this blight and death from wound works. Because I don't get it at all.

True they look like they found them in a bondage club for the mentally unstable, I'll probably be too busy laughing (or puking) to fight them properly. Why were the kick-arse designs from DA:O changed?
