Hello everyone.

This mod will allow you to rebuild your character (press ESC and select Rebuild Character from the options), sending it back to level 1 and allowing you to change Alignment and Base Ability Score and Skill Points set at level 1 (you will regain them for level 2).

With this mod you can also relevel Dragon Disciples and bypass the dreaded bug that messes up their ability scores.
You will not be allowed to relevel if you are in combat or if there's an enemy within 80' of you.
Only non-dominated PCs and Henchmen are allowed to relevel.

REQUIREMENTS
Neverwinter Nights OC, Mask of the Betrayer and Storms of Zehir.

INSTALLATION
Extract the contents of the zip file in ...\My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\
Module Builders remember to associate the .hak file to the mod, if you wish to use this for Multi-Player or a Persistent World.

COMPATIBILITY
This mod will not be compatible with mods that modify the "optionsmenu.xml" through override (for Single Player) or haks (for Multi-Player).

BUG REPORTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Please do not hesitate to report bugs or suggest potential new features if you think they would be worth it.

So this will port the rebuilt character back into the latest save game?

? No, it will just do what it says it does. The character will be back to level 1, you'll be able to choose your alignment and base ability scores again. Then you'll get back all the exp you had before so you can relevel it again and bring it back to the level it was. If you do this with a level 5 character you will regain enough exp to be level 5 again.

I will update the opening post's description for more clarity.

No need I checked the site linked and it's clear enough. Just me asking questions before I did any research :)

Nice tool, will save me a restart or two me thinks, thanks for sharing.

Glad you like it. I have uploaded a new version (1.1) that fixed a bug. In 1.0 you could only relevel your main character. With 1.1 you can relevel henchmen and companions as well. (useful for campaigns such as Storms of Zehir)

I think this will be good for those people that come and post about reaching such and such a point in a campaign and realized they wanted to play a different build. Does it allow race/deity/background changes?

No, it does not allow those, sorry. Especially the Race change, I think that one is pretty much out of my control.

Maybe I could add Deity change in a later version, but I'm afraid that it might screw up the access to the Doomguide of Kelemvor class.

As for the Background change, it's certainly worth considering, I think it can be done.

  • So I could do a save,
  • run through all of the content in my test area,
  • reload the save,
  • hit escape and change one or more builds
  • run through the content again to look for changes or bugs

Is that what you had in mind?

You could certainly do that, even though it's not what I had in mind when I thought of this mod.

The reason why I started this mod was for a couple of reasons:

1) In Single Player games you may not want to start over if you took a couple of bad feats or screwed up some initial requirement such as alignment or ability scores. Or if you ended up with a build that you didn't really like. Many modern rpg games (especially MMOs) have a form of "respec", so I don't see why this one shouldn't. Consider it a "Quality of Life" change.

2) In several Persistent Worlds I've been, there are options to relevel/rebuild your character automatically, but they're usually disabled for Dragon Disciples because of their Dragon Abilities Feat and I wanted to provide a fix for that because it seemed really unfair to those who picked the class.

Anyways, I have uploaded version 1.2 with the following changes:

 - Dominated PCs and Henchman may no longer relevel.
 - Familiars, Animal Companions and Summoned Creatures may no longer relevel.
 - Rebuild will now also allow to redistribute the first level skill points at level 2.
 - Added .hak file for Multiplay or Persistent Worlds.

When I'm doing a play test I sometimes hit a point where I have all the quests at a certain state of completion and I want check two different paths from there. Your tool could come in very handy here.

Uploaded version 1.3

Henchmen may no longer relevel. PCs from campaign and from party register (SoZ) are not considered Henchmen.

Characters affected by Negative Levels may no longer relevel.

Code Optimization.

Fixed a potential exploit for Persistent Worlds caused by lag.

Racial modifiers are now displayed in the ability score window.

Scripts taken out of .hak and added to an .erf so module builders can properly import them to the module.

Used it in-game for the first time the other day. Works as advertised and much easier than using the console or tlk.edit.
