I think its time for old gen players to accept there will be no more content.

The butthurt is real. I would say you got your money's worth of content already. Would you rather have not had the game at all?

if they shut it down then I would be fine. If they shut it down for a subset of users I have a issue.

Then pretend it's shut down and sell the game so you can stop having sleepless nights over the inhumanity.

Integrity on what exactly?

The thing is, they don't shutdown anything. PS3/360 will still be able to play their game just fine. What EA/Bioware did is stop releasing new content. They don't "owe" anyone new content, not even PC/PS4/X1.

I get that PS3/360 users are pissed, but in my opinion they're not asking for the right thing. Instead of asking for everyone else to be punished for their dwindling community, maybe they should ask for a free copy of the game on the next generation of consoles. They deserve it and it's not like it's costing EA/Bioware anything, the game already exists...

I also get that some people can't afford a PS4/X1. That's sad, but we all have some things we can't afford. I know nobody likes to hear this, but that's what living in the reality means. Hell, I'm lucky if I can get 5% of the things I want in a day! At least they can still enjoy what they have, a very fun and functional game. Pissing on the other platforms isn't gonna solve anything...

Integrity in how he is as a person. If you're going to do something then do it, but don't just do it to a select group which you mislead.  Not in this situation.  In his views...his personality.

Yeah, they don't "owe" content, but its not ok to charge everyone the same price and mislead everyone into thinking everything is the same and then **** over some of those people.  They committed to the old gen when they put the game out and charged full price for it.

I have not seen 1 single person asking for some global punishment.  I see people who want the same thing everyone else gets who paid the same price and are playing the same game.

This literally has nothing to do with money or being able to buy things.  This is about how people are treated and how the situation was handled.  That's fine though.  I'm not mad or anything.  I will treat Bioware and EA the same way they treat me.  If I'm a black sheep fair enough.  You won't ever see a penny from me either.  I think/hope others adopt that attitude as well.

For the record I am not mad at all.  I am not trying to "punish" anyone.  If they don't want to do what is right by their fans then that is fine with me.....treat some groups like crap.  When given the chance I will return the favor in what ways I can and life will go on.  It's not a big deal, but there is a "right" and a "wrong" here and its really changed how I see things.  I also know these decisions are made by a group of people and then trickle down. They are not how everyone at those companies are.

When Bioware developed the game, surely the business plan included the game and it's projected life, including several waves of paid DLC.

So, like my earlier posts, when they made the decision to include the old gens in the business plan, they should stick to that (crappy imo) decision.

Plans of course can always be changed, but to drop a subset that was originally included rings unethical to me.

Snip.

Fair enough, I think EA/Bioware handled that one pretty badly.

I only played devil's advocate because the way Spin-Orbit made his blank statement. It was so general and could be understood so many ways that it could lead to very dangerous lines of thinking. I felt compelled to at least give the other side of the story to balance it out. I simply don't like people spreading thoughts that could be dangerous to others, let's call it a pet peeve of mine...

Here's my guess:

Before they launched the game, EA/Bioware planned to support the game for a very long time. Probably longer than ME3MP.

When the game landed, it was riddled with problems: key glitch, disconnects, loot system, etc.

EA/Bioware decided to stay silent and see if the problem would go away with time, which is a very bad practice by the way.

The result was the game didn't do as good as they planned for and people didn't spend as much Platinum as anticipated. Who could blame players for not spending on Platinum with such a bad loot system?

Eventually, EA/Bioware had a choice to make. Either write the whole Dragon Age franchise off because 2 criticized games in a row is usually spelling doom or they could do the strict minimum to try and save the ship.

My guess is, that's what happened in April when Bioware suddenly became "public" and finally began to really interact with its player base (That's when Billy, Blair and BLuke made their "official" appearance). At that point, they already had decided to drop the PS3/360 when the numbers wouldn't be sufficient. I don't think they were planning to end support for those consoles prematurely, but the sorry state of the game at launch, especially MP, forced them to revise their plans.

That's pure conjecture on my part. I'm not saying EA/Bioware is right in ending support prematurely, I'm just saying I don't think they planned this from the start like most people seem to think. Let's not forget nobody knew how much of a "success" would be the new consoles, it was a gamble they obviously lost.

I really wish they would honor their original plans, but frankly I'm already surprised we got to patch 9 (incoming). The game was in such a sorry state after the Destruction DLC (oh such irony with that name) that I never thought for a second we'd even 2 more patches. I'm glad they decided to follow thru and fix the game in April, but let's be real here. I don't think it was profitable to fix the game, I think they did it for the press so they wouldn't have 2 games with "bad" press in a row. You can fault them for that all you want, but it's hard to fault them for making a rational decision in dropping support for something that don't bring any profit. You really think they would go thru all that bad press if they weren't losing money on PS3/360? Maybe, hell we're talking about EA here, nothing should surprise me, but I don't think it was the case.

Just take it with a grain of salt, as I said it's only my guess.

ThirdRace

It was given within the context of this thread and the posts, I don't see how you take that as a generalization to a dangerous line of thought, but whatever

Someone else posted their thoughts (Shadoz?) this may have nothing to do with cost of support etc. rather more of a licensing issue that someone missed or that couldn't be predicted. Either way BW should come out with a clear position and state the future of the product in a clear timeline.

Third, I bet you are right, or at least very close.

Transparency would be nice.

Something like acknowledging mistakes, and more importantly, stating that the lessons learned will be applied to upcoming games.

They're not releasing on the obsolete hardware for ME:A  so they shouldn't have the same issue.

Yes, that is what I also understand.

However, they are using the same "new" Frostbite engine.

I hope they don't screw it up like they did here.

I don't feel like I'm filled up with enough nerd rage and justice boners to contribute to this thread like everyone else. Call me crazy but I never expected to get anywhere near the amount of gameplay and entertainment I did from DAMP, as I originally bought it for the SP. I went ahead and took advantage of a trade in deal and got a PS4, but I'm still slugging it out with the PS3 community til the bitter end. Would a refund be nice? Yeah and it would a great PR move for BW. But I'm also just glad we have the option to transfer at all.

Creating content 5 times over for every new update is not feasible, and it is probably cutting into the quality of gameplay across the board. This may be wishful thinking but I'm hoping that we will see content delivered faster, with better quality and support than before once the migration happens.

Now this could be a problem... I suppose DA:IMP is the Beta for ME:A then.

Just a few questions/thoughts on migration from PS3 to PS4.

For now no need to get into the cost of a new console and a PS4 version of a game I already paid for.

Can anyone using the PS4 version say they suffer from radom DC's, FC issues such as caused by bringing the Baird into battle, random FC freeze ups for apparently no reason ( just the host or more than one ) and radom glitches when in combat with the Dragon in NM?

Are the current connectivity, freeze ups, DC's and random in game glitches an issue with either server? They are separate correct?

What is the current player base size of MP on the PS4?

What is the current player base size of MP on the PS3?

If the server for each ( or both if linked ) has been operating at just under -10% ( which is a standard rule of thumb max I believe ) what would happen to the server if forced migration occured with just 80% of the PS3 player base in quick succession? What if each player base was cut by say 40%?

Would the PS4 player base server have more or less issues?

Yes, I would have rather not had the game for ps3. I would have WAITED to buy it for ps4 (whenever I would decide to upgrade). That choice was taken away from me--having full information, I could decide to buy the old gen version with likely less content or wait to buy the ps4 version. EA ****** KNEW what they were doing. Again, they have my money. They won't be getting any more.

Better that than having the rug suddenly pulled out from under them I'd say. At least they can make an informed decision. All they were told is that their consoles would be fully supported. One would have reasonably assumed that was for the entire life cycle.

Or at the very least before release BW should have said 'Oh yeah, if you buy on a 360 or PS3, you'll be able to get a couple of the DLC we're releasing.'
at least they could have made a fully informed decision at the time of purchase.
