Been about a decade and then some since I've fired it up, but I'm pretty sure Daggerfall gold had weight as well. You could deposit your cash in banks and obtain a letters of credit to carry around with you.

You are right! I forgot about that one. Now, I feel nostalgic. I still have my boxed copy I bought sometime ago from EggHead Software. I wonder if it still works?

I still have mine as well, and I don't think the disk works. You can download it for free from Beth's website though. I believe it requires dosbox and a few eldritch incantations to actually get it running.

That game was such a beautiful mess. I still like it over Oblivion.

Not quite, I remember a game series called Alternate Reality for the 8-bits (City and Dungeon) gave money weight. (The games also had jobs where the character could work for money). The games had a banking system (Four banks at different parts of the city and two banks in the Dungeon as I recall). The character could deposit money to help lessen the weight and withdraw money when necessary. (Of course during banking hours).

Being able to hold more than 10 potions (of any type) on a character has always been a beef of mine. Now having a party of six each having the maximum of 10 potions with the ability to swap between characters made more sense. The party as a whole could have 60 potions. But only a handful of games operated that way.

Money should have weight but it typically doesn't ( I did forget Daggerfall did that with cash so amend no to most). It would be very easy to design a game around smaller currency amounts so that the total "load" wasn't in the tens of thousands of coins but hundreds. I'm just not a fan of the trash looting systems we have that are usually totally unreal - I can strip the boots off this guy but he didn't have a weapon- and cause the use of a usually bad merchant/vendor mechanic for no real gain for the players over just looting cash.

...and dear god, Daggerfall wow that is going back.

The only reason why I agree to having in-combat heals is because I've always liked playing the support mage/healer class in any game.

When I found out that there were no heals I did feel a bit of a let down only because heals is one of the most important things about a support character.

Plus it seemed more lore to me to have healing spells that healed people quickly in combat than someone mid combat stopping and drinking potions or throwing them on the floor to heal everyone.

Like really in the middle of fighting a Pride demon or a Dragon or even Corypheus himself, do people really think potions is more lore than healing spells?

Especially for a melee character fighting up close, it would seem extremely random to just quickly take out a potion and drink it in the midst of an intense battle and then be like 100% healed.

If I were Corypheus and I was fighting the Inquisitor and in the midst of battle when it seems I've got the Inquisitor beat, he quickly takes out a little flask and has what appears to be lemon tea and then he's instantly healed, that would be a major WTF moment.

That's some Jesus juice right there lol.

Maybe it's just me but I've always thought healing spells were much more lore than insta-heal potions.

For the sake of lore I hardly ever liked to use potions because in a strange reality fantasy world where a battle like such would ever happen, the last thing you'd think of doing is taking a quick refreshment while demons and dragons are trying to kill you.

Plus I'm sure with all the fighting the flasks would have been smashed with bits of glass embedded in you since you know in a battle people and things get hit and stuff breaks.

Like if a dragon's tail swiped you and you survived, I'm pretty sure the potions would have soiled your pants while dripping down your leg.

Anyway that's just me, to each their own and I still like DAI, just that from a lore perspective I've always thought healing spells were closer to lore than potion chugging.

Also, Wynne would be very disappointed if her healing spells were taken away lol.
