It seems that you get several bonuses for preordering. Also it guarantees that you get your game on the launch date, whereas if you just go to the store that day to buy it they might be sold out.

As far as the shipping goes, I'm not sure... if they ship to the stores and to the consumers on the same date, I would assume they arrive at the same time? If the release date is November 3rd that should be when the stores start selling it; they would already have the games in stock before that date, just not allowed to put them on the shelves.

You might have to murder someone to get a copy, but it's an idea.

That depends on how many copies your local Gamestop have ordered. I doubt very much they'll run out though.

With any new copy of the game:
Blood Dragon Armor: in game armor that you can use in both Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.
Shale: extra party member

Collector's Edition (hardcopy):
Game comes in limited edition tin case, and includes a cloth map of Ferelden.
Includes bonus DVD with "making of" features, soundtrack, concept art, etc.
3 in game items: a helmet, book, and staff.

Collector's Edition (digital... iow downloaded through Steam or a similar service):
Warden's Keep DLC.  This can also be purchased separately.
3 in game items
Not sure about the stuff included in on the bonus DVD for the hardcopy version...

Pre-order:
Stone Prisoner DLC.  You can purchase this DLC separately if you don't pre-order.
Memory Band: in game item

If you import a character from the Character Creator:
Lucky Stone: in game item

I think that's it...

EDIT: Fixed this to reflect Maria Caliban's corrections :P

No. Pre-ordering gets the memory band and any retailer special offers.

Shale is free for every new game as is the Blood Dragon armor.

I thought the memory band was for importing a character from the CC, regardless of whether or not you preordered?

The only way your game would be delayed is if you're preordering it online; then it might take time to ship to you. If you're preordering at a store, they should have it the day of release. Most stores get copies of games days, if not weeks, before official release dates. Don't expect them to give you a copy early if they do have it ahead of time, though. Unless you luck out like some people did when Mass Effect was leaked a tad early...

I don't think there is any difference to preordering other that you are guaranteed the game at launch.
The addons are for all NEW versions of the game, except wardens keep which is for those that download CE as they don't get a Cloth Map (Others can pay extra to buy) and there are items exlusive for CE.
I haven't heard anything official about exlusives for preorders so i could be wrong, the above is from what i have heard from Bioware.
But if there is i have luckely pre ordered CE from GAME

God I hope they have it on November 3. I have pre-ordered other games and have had to wait a day or two, as the shipping and release dates were different. I am hopping that the release date and shipping date are the same for DA, it should be as Tuesday seems to be the day gamestop gets their games in.

My suggestion is to get to gamestop as soon as the open, even if you did pre-order, as it will both assure you a copy and you get maximum play time.

If Gamestop doesn't have it for non-pre-orders then any number of retailers should have it. Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Frys, Target, etc. I don't expect there to be any manner of shortage.

Pre-orders are less for the consumer and more for the publisher. The more people pre-order the more copies of a game a retailer will order both to fufill those pre-orders and for non-pre-orders. Gives both the publisher and retailer an idea of how popular the game will be.

They won't sell out. And neither will Wal-Mart or Target.

Gamestop already is out of Collector's Editions. If you want that on release day, head over to Best Buy. (You can also pre-order it there, but you don't get any special goodies.)

most stores get the game days before the release date.

if you aren't concerned about the "pre-order" items, you might even be able to buy before nov 3 by a few days if you find a mom and pop gamestore that is willing to sell it early- many of them are.

the big chains that offer pre-order item bonuses definately won't, but with the mom and pops- whose to know?

EDIT:

you DO get special items I don't know the exact names or where to order from but heres a brief description

1- wolf charm(not sure of exact name)- it gives you an armor boost and health regen boost and some other things- also something about bieng created by naked witches in the woods.
this is a gamestop pre-order bonus (thats where i ordered from).  personally im more interested in the hot naked witches playing with each other in the woods than the health boost- but thats probably not in anything more than the description of the item.

2- lion boots or something like that- gives you dodge and evade and armor boost

3- fire ring- you get some kind of fire resistance and damage bonus ro somewhat (i think its actually called the burn ring)

4- dalish ring- reduce darkspawn damage and healing spell boost

5- guildmaster's belt- adds to money gain and some other effects.

-supposedly ANYWHERE you pre-order from you get the memory ring- it adds a 1% to exp gain and +1 to a skill point.

-the stone prisoner dlc and blood dragon armor comes with any NEW copy of the game.

-the warden's keep comes wih the digital version of the game. or you can download it for $7 on release day.

the ce content has a number of items i haven't followed since i wasn't getting it.

If you don't want to pre-order, don't go to Gamestop.

It is a terrible retailer for new releases, as they usually limit the number of copies they get so as to maximize pre-orders (they tell you to pre-order it, or you won't get it), and eventually maximize used game sales.

I suggest going to Best Buy, they usually always order tons of copies on new releases and you don't need to pre-order.

Any idea how I get this Lucky Stone ring if I've already uploaded my char from the Character Creator? It's not in his inventory. Am I missing something?
