The group is doing the make-overs based on the average weight of women in America.

So I'm assuming that most American women are fat then? lol
As one commenter put it perfectly IMO:
"Ridiculous. They're basically saying that average women cannot be slim nor fit and are supposed to be either fat or out-of-shape.
What this group is doing is shaming these video game characters for being physically attractive which is no different from fat shaming."
Eating Disorders Group photoshops female video games characters to make them more "realistic"

Half the games featured are Japanese, where women on average are 50 pounds lighter than American women. So there's a quite a bit of cultural bias to start off with. Did find it funny that to make women more realistic they just made everyone fatter. I don't think video games are particularly good at depicting the average person, male or female, but that's part of the appeal and implying that ordinary people can't be fit or slim isn't really a good thing.
I get where bulimia.com is coming from, and I recognise what kind of work they'd obviously do to aid those with bulimia and how that plays into stuff like this. But this particular stunt reeks of "abloo bloo bloo, these video game women are slimmer and fitter than me, I can't have that!"

Not only this is rather petty, but also stupid. Considering what these characters pull off in video games, they would be completely out of breath in minutes. If they wanted to put more athletic woman, I would understand, but this just doesn't make sense.

Oh I know. There was a discussion about it though about not bringing that stuff into BTM. And I said I'm sure someone would make a thread about it regardless.
I'm just indulging my own vanity on my foresight. I'm an oracle of sorts I think.

Is that really what the group is saying? The eating disorder group stated they got the measurements from the CDC.

I also find it funny that curvier is seen as more "Realistic" as I don't usually come across women like that. Or at least not "Scarf down 3 tubs of Ice cream a day" Rikku up there.
Hell I'm overweight and it's not something I'm particularly proud of but I don't feel like photoshopping man boobs onto every male game characters. I feel like getting on a treadmill for a half hour.
It's like this post I came across earlier today of these Practially Boring Superheroine redesigns.
