I'm guessing the people who photoshopped these have never lifted, hiked, biked, exercised, dieted, etc..

Of course not, why should they?

Being overweight is the normal thing after all ...

Why would heroes/heroines look like they exercise less than 5 hours per year? Ridiculous

She loves Dragon Age. But I doubt she would come here.

And we probably have as much to talk about in Off-Topic as we do IRL nowadays.

Nothing.

To save the forum the "tell us how you really feel" thing, unload in a PM to me. I'm actually curious.

Is this not an hologram? Because it looks like either an hologram or a robot to me.

I believe we and the fat chicks who can't put the spoon down and have to project insecurities on videogame characters can agree that, should we ever develop AI intelligence which we will the install into a female robotic body, there is no chance we would make it look anything short of perfect.

It's a hologram and the person it's based on is not the type that would make a chubby AI.

It's an AI, so yes, this is a virtual appearance.

Or walked.

In this era of competitive exercising and religious use of gym, apparently having a toned, lean or muscular body is out of the ordinary. Huh, who would have figured?

Realistic ? I guess they look realistic by North American standards, but by standards of other groups of people around the world, they are overweight and unattractive.

Then again, what can you expect from Americans who like to push what they think as good into a standard that apparently the entire world has to obey. Got to love the cultural imperialism.

I think this action shows off some of the reasons why "SJW" has become a derogatory term.

People who change a mechanical vehicle and an AI hologram to have a chubby and unfit human representation, have clearly lost all foothold with reality. They have become a product of their own circular thinking. And they obviously also don't know **** about what they're commenting. Nor do they know **** about the audience which will judge their work.

It's reminiscent of Anita Sarkassian  ...can I mention A.S. without being banned and the thread being closed?... . Her message went down well with journalists (which says a lot of unfortunate things about journalists, but you have to learn how they tick), but it sure didn't went down well in the target. Do I like the little retarded imbeciles who then harassed A.S.? No, because besides being creeps, jerks, bullies and general AHs, they also defaulted a resounding defeat in the entire messy issue, and validated A.S. and gave here credence, spotlight and a worldwide platform.

So the ton of lies, misrepresentation and general unreasonability of much (but not all) of her presentation immediately became gospel truth for all posterity. Like: Don't even bother to try to discuss this. "You yourselves have already proved it!"

The idea they have in their head is that the originals somehow is some form of oppression, because they 'shape our ideals', which things then tend to be judged by. I happen to think they actually have a point. Not the one they are trying to make about game characters, but there is one in the background. Hollywood movies and TV series these days mainly feature actresses and actors who have borrowed their body ideals from fashion industry's very unhealthy fixation on close-to-death teenagers from Auschwitz. (I would suggest this may have been caused by most fashion designers being gay men, who are unable to project a normal sexual ideal in their vision, but that's beside the point.)

A healthy woman, even if she's exceedingly fit and almost void of body fat, has an upper arm aspect ratio of about 3:1. Want proof? Look around yourself, anyone not fat or body building will do. Or watch this video of very fit female athletes (sorry bout the occasional butts, but it's how these videos work).

(...c'mon, enough of that, you don't have to watch all of the video  ...).

Length of the arm from the elbow to armpit is 3 times the thickness of the arm, regardless if they're runners, tennis players, pole vaulters or gymnasts. You can also look at glamour models or swimsuit models (just not S.I. because most of them are actually runway fashion models). And this is what you'll also see around you, on normal women. Actually, mature women might go towards 2½:1, and a female cop might be 2:1, but that just reinforces my point:

A female cop in a movie or TV production? More like 4:1. And that's runway model dimensions.

Have you any idea of how 4:1 looks in reality? How much you have to starve yourself to even get below 3:1? I can assure you that when you do see it in reality, you will react and you won't find it attractive. Not their legs either. They might look long and shapely in the angles of the TV production, but in reality they will look like skin and bone and give you the creeps.

So that's all bad. I agree. So something should be done about it. Maybe even legislation concerning models.

But that does not make anything wrong with depicting video game characters as fit or sexy. Should be the most natural thing.

It's just fundamentally UNREASONABLE  to project your agenda on everything. The thing is that everybody can do that with everything all the time. Just invent the issue, and then you can, with a bit of creativity, find injustice everywhere. Or support for injustice. Or content potentially part of potentially unjust values. Or values anything not explicitly, always supporting and forwarding only my issue in every detail and thus being unjust.

- Bhaaa!

A word: Counterproductive.

P.S. Is it just me, or does anyone else also like the redone Cortana 4 better?

All female game characters need to have acne, cellulite, stretch marks, greying roots and varicose veins too. Can't have them body shaming those poor sensitive women IRL after all.

Honestly disgusting.

I will never accept the glorification of overweight people and the demonization of those who are healthy and fit.

I mentioned this in another thread, but what really annoys me about the many "this is what a real woman looks like!" campaigns we see in various forms of popular media is that they always portray them as being overweight. This is wrong and bothers me for a number of reasons. Firstly, most women on this planet are not overweight, so it's intentionally misleading in order to normalise and glorify women being overweight. Secondly, by using the term "real woman/women" they are implying that any who don't fit this mould aren't real women and doing the exact same thing they  purportedly fight against, they are body shaming women who are slim or athletic, either naturally or through hard work and exercise. It's also generally an attempt to shame people who don't find overweight women attractive, insinuating that the problem is with them and that not finding them attractive somehow makes them a bigot.

Sooo, a bunch of people who made themselves deliberately ugly want to make fictional characters ugly so they feel better?

You know what the problem with society is nowadays? People screw up and want to live with their screwed up lives instead of fixing things, and society has to accept those screwed up ways of living  as ''normal'' to not to hurt their feelings. That's nothing but weakness, and accepting weakness as normal hurts society as a whole. We are supposed to improve ourselves, not degenerate.

We need a worldwide power blackout or meteorite impact or some other sort of major catastrophe to get people back on track, seems like the lack of the daily fight for survival and the relative peace and security drives people into madness.

(The last line may or may not be 100% serious)
