My point is that all of these campaigns, whether they be in clothing stores, videogames, TV adverts, film all seem to promote fat acceptance specifically for women. Have you ever seen a "This is what a real man looks like" ad?

I don't watch TV or read magazines, so I tend not to see any kind of ads unless they become infamous or well known for whatever reason.

That said, a quick couple of Google searches pulls up a number of results promoting being fat for men. And ones that aren't promoting being fat are at least saying something along the lines of "you don't have to look like Spartacus on steroids to not be worthless" and promoting feeling positive about your body.

And if it's ads we're talking about here, I guarantee they aren't telling women to be proud of being fat because they give any kind of s**t about those women, they are trying to sell a product.

I don't understand this dude.

Who's demanding anything here? These guys made a few shoops of video game characters so they're demanding that to be the new standard?

At best, it's a suggestion, not even that and it's interesting to see.

Oh yeah, there's one of Iron Man that had me laugh my ass off.

Because Tony would purposely design a suit of armor to have a beer gut (I know he's an alcoholic but come on)

Lol.

Well, yeah, he doesn't want to bodyshame people who aren't billionaire industrialists and can't afford healthy foods or spare the time to work out because they have 5 jobs by constructing a powersuit that implies an unobtainable musculature. FFS, check your privilege.

Something tells me they wouldn't be so keen to get rid of all the men with perfect bodies in games. Body acceptance is absolute bs that's all about trying to get men to lower their standards, while women get to keep theirs.

What they did to Rikku is an abomination.

Don't forget we men have to work harder for our bodies so we end up looking like Adonis whom many women desire. Women just have to not eat so much.

Nevertheless you don't see us men complaining about this mainly because we don't care.

Now I know this group had different intentions when creating these images but we've all seen the arguments before particularly from feminists that female characters perpetrate "unrealistic" standards but are dreadfully quiet on all the Adonises running around in video games.

Yeah...let's not speak like most men are driven go-getters who work to improve themselves and be the best for their partner. Obesity is just as big if not a bigger problem for men than woman.

Half the games featured are Japanese, where women on average are 50 pounds lighter than American women.

Didn't realize this was literally true. Damn.

Although they're also no doubt at least several inches shorter on average. Which mitigates that difference at least somewhat.
