About two years ago, I stumbled upon this visual bug in a youtube channel. At that time, it appeared just as harmless as the cosmetic invisible Cobra Missle. This bug allows the player to take cover several feet in front of the physical cover, giving them the illusion of invisible cover.
That was not the case.
This exploit confuses the targeting A.I of enemies as they shoot at the location the player would be behind cover and not the actual position of the player.
There are limitations to this however:
-Any attacks that stagger, such as a phantoms melee or a geth rocket trooper/geth hunter melee, knocks the player out of cover. While the A.I may have a hard time shooting the player, they will melee against the player successfully.
-The player must remain still. While they are allowed to shoot and take cover, sidestepping breaks this exploit.
-This is a very situational or inefficient method to exploit. Roaming marauder groups is a more efficient and enjoyable experience then camping. However, it might have some use. (Center hack London)
- Exploit does not apply to all covers.
With all the limitations posted, this amounts to a situational gimmick that can be added to the ME3 repertoire of gimmicks. Maybe even some terrible, “Hold the Line” games.
I do not know if this can be replicated on the PS3 or the PC, but I would not be surprised if it could. To perform this gimmick, simply take cover while simultaneously pressing the start (scoreboard key).
