Love them both. Smashdept is my preferred one of the two, since singularity is so much cooler than charge(imo, that is) and as I found out lately, he can actually put lash to good use, whereas I can't really find one for his vanguard brother. He's more squishy, but he compensates for that by the sheer amount of destruction he wrought in his path. I like using Carnifex on him.

 

That said, the goonguard is a great character as well. Charge-->Smash-->canceling Smash with heavy melee... fangrilling assured. He usually gets Carrier or Wraith.

 

Plus, Smashing the goontards always feels therapeutic

 

Smash is simply the most awesome power in the game. Totally objectively speaking, of course

I like them both since they are played differently.

 

Both are non fitness.

 

I play the adept as caster with much stronger biotic attacks (power amps). He uses a scorpion with disruptor ammo for destroying humanoid enemies with an explosive electrifying lash

 

My vanguard is more combat oriented and I use the harrier (lore) with warp ammo. His play style focuses on creating self explosions (smash/lash) and charg/smash/charge when appropriate.

 

I really enjoy fighting on host phantoms with these guys.

Smashguard was the first Vanguard I unlocked. I used him exclusively for like a month, he's my favorite Vanguard next to the Drellguard. 

 

As far as the whole Smash Bros/BDSM tendencies implication.....well, what happens with consent stays behind the dungeon walls

^^^ I will admit to this as well..on the Smashguard..most of the time I skip Lash  --for me Charge w bonus power Smash is good enough   .while I am at it..I will also admit to never trying the electricity evo on Smash...ever.  I have no idea what it does or how it works.

Inspired by this thread, played the kits yesterday.  Going to go with Phoenix Adept, 6/6/3/5/6, Talon or Lancer.  Love singularity and rag-dolling helpless floating phantoms.  Mine is red and gold--looks like Ironman. Named "Whiplash."  Best if played with Devo's "Whip It" for background music.

Swoop, I used to go 66356 too with my GoonDept (with max melee in my fitness tree).  But then I was informed that melee/fitness might be better left to the GoonGuard, and I should respec him to max his Lash -- this was from NightSlasher, I think.  I went 66644 and never looked back.

 

Being able to rip protected mid-tier mooks anytime, anywhere and detonate BEs really turned him into a multi-ranged monster.  Totally changed my approach.  I don't try to go CQC like I do with his GoonGuard Bro.  And now I think the GoonDept > GoonGuard...completely turned that around for my playing style.

 

Great troll-yr-team kit too.  Just watch your KroLord buddy approach a Nemesis, Marauder, Rocket Trooper, et al.  Then yoink them from under their noses as you see their hammertime wind-up.  Good fun...especially if they have a mic.

If you are speccing into lash, it's best to max it out. The shield penetration evo is really good.
