I did see someone with this AWESOME banner before and I was wondering how he got it... but yesterday my banner suddenly became this!

Is this a bug or some random easter egg?

After 2 gold runs my banner became normal again..

I lately noticed my banner disappears after couple of games. It's there one game and poof, gone the next. Since I use an alternative Council Operative one, that means a lot of visiting my N7HQ, which is little annoying. That hasn't happened before.

 

Anybody has any idea why this has started happening?

sometimes it disappears when I enter lobby, but as long as I can see the banner title, the picture will be seen after a while, so I guess the banner needs reload so maybe some network issue causes its temporary disappearance..

The Img rainbow banner occurs when EA changes the servers. The paths to the alt banners get screwed up and we get rainbows. It gets fixed EA side.

 

I know the banner disappearing (becoming black) will occur if you save a game in the Single Player campaign. Some hipsters do this on purpose. I haven't had it disappear during a run of MP games, though.

IMO it's Bioware's homage to MineCraft.

Off topic: I know on PC if you manually save in singleplayer you can get rid of your banner in MP, does that work on console too?

OMG the rainbow banner is back !  There was a time back in january-february 2014 where we almost all have it, as you can see in this vid :

 

 

It disappeared by itself after a few days (weeks ?).

yes, London VS Reapers, 27 mins, a little long but still fun.

3 Juggs, mine was using Geth Spitfire + incendiary amm IV, the second was a shotgun melee build, and the third was using pistol+power mod and spamming siege pulses, actually this was a good combination:)

I Remember last Time when this happend... Some Servers got migrated and the Custom Banners where gone, they forgot to Change paths or even missed them in the copy job

My team and I have thoroughly researched the origins of this mysterious banner.  Through many months of testing and trial and error, we have isolated the cause of this mystery banner, which we internally call "Banner XXX".

 

Though it may be hard to distinguish what the picture is of at first, if you stand about 20 ft from your monitor, it will start to become clearer.

 

It is much like the penny portrait of Abe Lincoln.  Up close, it just looks like a bunch of pennies.  Random.  But when you step back... magic.

 

 

 

The banner is a capture of a single frame from the popular movie, "Blasto, Buster of Baddies, Blaster of Babbies", in which, due to a wardrobe malfunction, Blasto's brilliant surge is visible for just a flash.  The picture was blown up, that section was cropped, and the banner is the result.

 

Studies have shown that the banner is awarded to the player with the most views of fornax, tentacle related hentai, or jellyfish nature program streams in one week.

You know I've heard that repeatedly on the forum and always accepted it as fact but I've saved manually lots of times in the campaign recently and my accounts all still have their banners.

That's odd, it has always worked that way for me in the past.

 

EDIT: I just  tried it and can confirm it is no longer making my banner disappear. Who says support for the game is over?
