Hey,

New to the Bioware forums so I wasn't too sure where to post this. I'm sorry if it's the incorrect forum.

I've seen these forums everywhere and googled a thousand times to find the answer myself but haven't found anything.

I just bought the trilogy for ME on origin because I wanted to give it a go on the pc for some modding experiences.

Wanted to start with 1 so

  • I downloaded Texmod from the bioware socialnetwork site.

Read a bunch of tutorials and this is what i've done:

  • Using my boyfriend's laptop and he doesn't have any antivirus protection except for Windows Firewall. I allowed the texmod.exe (inbound and outbound rules as well as the application alone).
  • This at first did not work so I disabled the firewall.
  • Switched the Texmod and MassEffect.exe
  • Started the game in the origin application
  • Changed the files back
  • uploaded tpfs
  • This worked- at least, did not get the D'oh! Error message
  • Run the game
  • I noticed these textures and mods did not show up in game
  • researched more
  • Found out that I need to disable the in-game origin application so it does not interfere with the tpf files
  • Did this
  • Tried it again and started getting the D'oh messages again!
  • Redownloaded Texmod and tried again... no luck, same problem.

I am currently reinstalling ME1 from Origin, firewall is still off but I feel that i've done everything in my power to make this work.

Please, please, please if I could get some assistance I'd appreciate it! I've been at it for a couple days now.

what you need is a file that runs the name changing for you, it is called a batch file. I can upload mine, make sure that you right click on the program and open it in your notepad.  Make sure that your files are where mine are, then save and close. This will do everything you need for you.  you wont have to manually change names back and forth each time.  you do this once when you start the game.  It tells you what to do, its a simple code. (you can find batch file on you tube if you get confused)

https://www.dropbox....ffect3.bat?dl=0

just put this on your desktop and run it, it will tell you to hit Y if you want to use texmod

then it will tell you to open origin and open your game

instead of me3 starting, or whichever game, (mine is set for me3) texmod will open

then basically hit enter twice.

Then go to text mod, select the masseffect3 that looks like texmod now, (to trick origin)

then select your mods and hit run

hope this helps :) remember you must do this every time you play the game. If you turn off ME3, and leave texmod open you dont need to do it again.  If both are closed off, you need to run the batch file. :)

That D'Oh! message I thought was AVG related but if what user-domain-error says works, then great. That's my preferred method too; using the batch file and just pointing the file to my custom install directory.
