As much as I prefer weekend challenges over everyday play, it seems like I may do less than half of them. Half the weekends we have our kids at home, and the other half sometimes it's something ridiculous, like collect 50 gold medals in druffalo riding or whatever.

 

I'd really like to make a go of it, though. Even though next weekend I'm getting married. So yeah, please don't make that one suck.

 

I suppose I expected the bonus multiplayer content for preordering the collector's edition to be something special, and it turned out to just be a normal large chest, the first of dozens. So maybe the reward at the end of book 1 is going to be nothing I'd regret missing. Or maybe even something I would regret getting, if getting it proved difficult.

My first guess would be nothing good. The only way it would be worth it is if you get an item that no one else currently has. Even if it was an item you'd never gotten that is currently available there's a chance it's something terrible or that you wouldn't want anyways. I'm hopeful but not expectant I suppose.

During the Twitch stream they said yes, but i'm not sure. They said consecutive chests would net you better loot with something great being in the 5th, but my second chest was in no way an improvement over my first.

 

I mean, anything that isn't a hakkon weapon or comparable is going to be a huge disappointment, and to people who already have all the hakkon stuff thats pretty useless too.

 

edit: Don't want to sound too negative, since it's basically just something extra. I complete the weekend challenges anyway, so it's just 5 extra free chests for me.

the chests, nah, just commendation chests & plus, the better the loot you have, the less joy it will bring, personally I think the best reward will come afterwards. With all the talk about the next patch, Luke giving those numbers & talk of Darkspawn, I think this 'event' is leading up to dlc & that's the real reward.

Well, I've been playing with item level 20-22 rare weapons across all my classes, so the bar might not be that high for me. Not that I'm not frequently disappointed by the commendation chests. But if they do something somewhat cool, it'll probably be useful for me. I do not think we're getting a hakkon weapon.

I hope that the "Final star" rewards are fixed, or that you get like 90% purples. Sick of completing the challenges only to get 2 runes, 8 potions and the rest lvl 10 useless weapons.

 

All I want is a good sword for Belinda, DAMNIT :'(

What would you like to see in it?

 

The problem that typically arises when building the table for the unique chests is that we can't just give Hakkon weapons to someone who has been playing for 4 or 5 weeks. We usually attempt to split it based on what you're loot score is at but as you can guess it always leaves people that are just under the next jump very upset (1 item could be the difference between a Hakkon weapon and a level 18 epic for example). The other option we have is to just pick some of the top accessories and build a big chest of those and set them to only drop if you don't already have them.

 

Lots of options but I suspect no matter which way we go some people won't be happy with it - such is the way of the chest
