Cotton. Cotton. Cotton! COTTON!!!
In case BW is open to suggestions. ![]()
If we don't get Hakkon weapons, this is the only acceptable substitute. Even with hundreds of hours logged at this point, I still don't have all the cloth I need for modding top tier gear. But, a guaranteed Hakkon weapon would still be infinitely better.Cotton. Cotton. Cotton! COTTON!!!

Ima join the hakkon bandwagon. Sad I have only two though, would be awesome to bypass that incredibly low chance for the last weapon.
Yeah, I have two as well. Unless I get another before the possibly guaranteed Hakkon weapon drop, it could be the staff, 2H sword, or dagger. Of those three, the dagger is the one I want the least, so I'd actually be disappointed if I got that one. Insta delete if I get that one, lol.Ima join the hakkon bandwagon. Since my level of suckitude guarantees I will never even so much as sniff a Hakkon weapon, all I have left is dreams of cotton. ![]()

Hah, I'll take any of them, even the staff. The dagger is actually really, really awesome. It basically lets you play isabela like an archer.

Cheer up, you have a better chance of getting a Hakkon weapon before Dragonracer gets a purple HoK ring. #Itsfunnycositstrue

Oh, I'm well aware. But, I'm likely one of the rare few who actually don't like playing as Isabella. I enjoy the alchemist a decent bit, and the assassin is...not so much. The dagger wouldn't see enough use with me to justify holding onto it when there are more desirable Hakkon weapons to be had.Hah, I'll take any of them, even the staff. I like how Solas is just being a total baller about it whilst Blackwall looks utterly dejected. ![]()
I know I advocated for an accessory chest, But I would not be disappointed with a hakkon chest. Just putting that out there.
*narrows eyes* As much as I hate to admit it... I would not be opposed to such an idea either.
(Largely, at this point, the Superb HoK ring is wanted purely out of spite since a slew of Dragon weapons have saved me from eternal non-healing hell...)

It really IS funny because it really is true.
Why do you think I'm always hollering for cotton? My little gray Life Drain rings can only do so much. I must put cotton mods on all the weapons - or I shall surely perish!

I do have one superb accessory - purple Cool Down Amulet was a very nice surprise. ![]()

Rest assured Dragon as soon as you get that elusive purple I will be ready with the confetti

Hell I don't have a single Hakkon and that drought will last a loooooooong time. Feel free to take shots. ![]()
Honest to God, Crimson, if and when I EVER get a Superb Ring of Life-Drain, I will create a music video of the opening and reaction and set it to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You".
It will be the crown jewel of my YouTube channel.

I've also now officially changed my mind.
The song will be "At Last" by Etta James.
beautiful song... love it ![]()
very good and appropriate choice

Hey, some of us look good in Plaideweave.
At least, I think so.

Forget regular cotton, if it's a extra special chest, ask for Imperial Vestment Cotton.
Funny I think the Cooldown amulet was the last purple accessory I got (very recently too). I'd gotten 5 HOK rings before it dropped.

or?

So, um...third chest was to be different, yet it seems to be another commendation. I suppose we'll just have to wait for the fifth chest/weekend.
(GOD I WOULD LOVE IF IT WAS SOMETHING THAT LET YOU ROLL DAMAGE ON A WEAPON TO MAX)

I want to start by mentioning that I've been playing this game for exactly 2 weeks at most (and been out of town for past 4 days)...so I'm not some veteran player with 100+ of every stat and all the best gear saying "GET OFF MAH LAWN!"
This is one area where I feel so spoiled in ESO. My friends and I can openly trade with each other if we pick up something we don't want/need via RNG loot system, but we know our friend could use it/is looking for it. It's also really nice to be able to craft armor or weapons for friends and giving it to them, or enchanting something for them, etc.
FWIW they'd have to dramatically lower the items per chest or make the best stuff a lower chance to drop or change something else if they allowed that.
I haven't played ESO but I'll use WoW as an example.
1, most good items are Bind-on-Pickup (BoP). This means that while everyone present at a boss kill (or trash kill if it dropped from a random mob) can choose who receives the item, anyone NOT at the kill cannot have the item traded to them. The equivalent in DA:I would be that if you kill a NM Dragon and a Hakkon weapon drops for you that you don't want...you could choose to trade it to one of the other three people in the game during the kill (but *only* one of those other three people).
2, Bind on Equip (BoE -- and thus can be traded until someone actually equips it) items are generally weaker than BoP items. This would be equivalent to only being able to trade level 20 whites and below or something for weapons and only up to level 12 blue armors (new player has to craft the best armor themselves). That would still be a massive shot in the arm for a new player if they "started" with a level 20 white item and improved armor. However, Bioware might also want to prevent trading runes/weapon upgrades/armor upgrades in that case. Imagine a brand new player on a brand new level 1 Archer getting a level 20 bow with 115 damage (compared to 34-50 of initial bows), 24% crit, 24% Heal on Kill, and 10.5% Attack. Yeah. Could possibly do something like upgrades are destroyed when trading but weaker upgrades can be traded separately (like tier 1 grips, level 10 and under upgrades, normal/lesser runes, etc).
3, DA:I items...don't have item level requirements, unlike basically every RPG/MMO I've ever see. Usually a level 10 bow requires the character be level 10, a level 20 bow requires the character be level 20, etc. So that exacerbates the potential problem. If a friend of mine starts WoW I can't give him/her a max level BoE item (or items) to use immediately...they'd actually have to level up first.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind the idea of trading in general (I started playing with several friends and we've bitched and moaned about how we seem to get items the others want) but I don't think completely open trading would be a good idea (and Bioware seems to agree -- note how they specifically made it so three veteran friends couldn't drag a fourth newbie friend through NM dragons for Hakkon weapons...or, hell, they can't even do that on Perilous dragons).
I'd also keep in mind that you can already offer tremendous amounts of help to friends if you're willing to put in the time -- three decent veterans can easily chain speed-run Perilous for a fourth new friend for massive XP/gold...and some veterans are able to do that on Nightmare. And even "just" Perilous is like twice as much gold/XP as Routine and the runs will also probably be considerably faster than Routine PUGs...so that's like, what, tripling? quadrupling? the friend's progression rate.
Since my level of suckitude guarantees I will never even so much as sniff a Hakkon weapon, all I have left is dreams of cotton.
