Hey guys!

Finally we will see a keyboard and mouse for the PS4, officially supported by Sony.  Apparently controllers don't come near the speed and accuracy of a KB+M combo.

Article here: http://www.kitguru.n...-coming-to-ps4/

With that out of the way, I hope Bio Montreal Art Director and producer will now set aside the time and resources for proper game controls for the desktop, which is a KB+M and a multi-button mouse at that!

I gave up on the Edmonton's Art Director Mike Laidlaw.

To be fair I quit playing RPG/TPS on PC because I wasn't satisfied with keyboard and mouse. So I simply don't care and won't be using this but hey if you like it more power to you.

Keyboard and Mouse should be on PC.  You can build a powerful PC for the same price as a console.  LinusTech has proved this.

Wait what? I simply can't stand playing TPS games on console, aiming with a joystick is simply a nightmare .-.'

He's Creative Director not Art Director. Besides that the Art director is not responsible for controllers.

I've reached this strange stage in my life where I prefer to use controllers.

It's really going to depend on how the game will turn out. If it's more a shooter than an RPG (like ME1, even though that game has the most RPG aspects in my opinion... but I digress :P) I will probably prefer mouse + keyboard.

But I'm kinda hoping they don't go that way so I can go with a controller without feeling gimped :P

It's also coming to Xbox One with the Windows 10 update.

Idk if Bioware will be taking advantage of it. But I sure hope a ton of RTS' make their way over from the PC, seeing as how they were previously too complicated for a controller.

I'll stick with using a controller.

Interesting, but honestly my first impression as a gamer who plays on both consoles and PC, that thing has far too few buttons to compare, especially since it seems to lack at least the basic 1-6 button row just above the "wasd" movement keys.

I guess its a bonus if you want better aiming but beyond that doesn't seem like much of an improvement.

*Year Quake was released, first game I'm aware of that incorporated mouselook. Feel free to correct me, I can't be bothered to google more.

I hope for controllers on pcs. I use a mouse all day. And as much fun as repetitive stress injuries are id like to keep them to paying the bills based activities and not my entertainment. But bioware has a history on this issue of having a deep seated prejudice against the disabled so I doubt we will see it.

Eh.

I'd be very, very surprised if there was no controller support.

Hell, I'll give you $1000 if they don't :P

NO. I will take a controller over KB & M every single time.

I freaking hate playing games with a KB and a mouse that is the main reason I stopped playing PC games.

None for me2. I was baffled they never patched it in. Not at launch is an oversight. Never putting it in is intentional. It's not just a preference for some people. Controllers are different enough to reduce or eliminate pain.

I knew I should have used quote. Someone was too quick and I'm following the wrong post.

Also pretty sure they never added controller support for PC to me3 either. But I'm less obsessed with 3 and actually played in most on the play station because of this. So maybe they added it eventually.

Well, this was your first mistake. There is no more hope in BioWare.

"Hello there, consoles? Welcome to 1996*! You still have some more catching up to do."- PCs

Consoles have had kb/mouse support before.  You could plug a USB kb/mouse into the PS2, and some games actually fully supported it.  I actually played the PS2 version of "Deus Ex" that way.

(I also have a working mouse for the Sega Genesis and PSX, but both of those were more of a gimmick.  I got the PSX one for the PSX version of "Xcom".)

For some reason, however, using kb/mouse on a console, even when it's supported, never becomes popular.  So far, anyway.  With both PS4 and XB1 getting mouse support soon (I believe both already have kb support), we'll see if "this time is different".

I suppose it would've been more accurate to blame the (majority of) games.

It still seems so backwards to me to not have widespread support for a more advanced interface (some ergonomic and convenience issues aside) then act like it's an innovation years later. Of course, we can only hope it won't all be as hilariously proprietary as what's in that article.

I am willing to give them that, since the Montreal studio was largely responsible for the multiplayer and Omega in gameplay, but its the rest I worry about.

It's still not his job to do with programming the controls for the game.

Bioware couldn't get KB&M on PC right for Inquisition. How do you expect them to handle KB&M on PS4?!

...what do Art Directors have to do with peripheral support?
