Good luck with what? This article doesn't exactly spell doom for anything. I'd say it's a fair bet that the likes of Xbox and Playstation (and perhaps Nintendo) will see multiple iterations past their current-gen models before their lines are put out to pasture, so I don't really have any reason to care at the moment.

I need a multi-purpose machine and a console is really limited to one function.
You can't program math models or plain Assembler or C++ programming with a consoles or controllers. Besides, my gaming leans away from strictly button smashing shooters or fighting games like the Street Fighter series. So, any piece of software that purports to run on a PC better make sure it supports its input devices properly and completely. A half assed job like DAI won't do, from my perspective.
In any case the fact that Windows 10 will allow cross platform gaming is (at least for Microsoft games ) blowing the wind of change in the gaming industry.
And it really comes down to personal preference and how you use your machines. I basically use only mobile devices, since I like to use my computer whenever and wherever, and other than screwing around on the internet, I use it for my artwork and little else. Stuff like gaming is something I prefer to keep separate, and attached to my television set. If I ever actually owned a gaming PC, it would basically only do what my PS3 does how, which is play games and stream stuff from my Amazon, HBO GO and Netflix accounts. I'd never use it for any general computer tasks.
