My goal is to inform players/customers, they are free to choose their own methods of making their voices heard.

The line between informing and inciting.

I got a warning for that last gif... So if I post some words with it, it should be fine?

Can you elaborate on why the warning was given and gag order imposed?

Can you elaborate on why the warning was given and gag order imposed?

I don't remember what the gif was, so here's some generic advice from my time on these boards.

General forum rules here are that posting only an image (static or gif) without some sort of "content", like posting some words that relate to the subject matter of the thread, is considered spam. It can net you a warning and post removal/PM from a mod. Repeated offenses can lead to a ban, usually temporary. Unless you just really start hacking the mods off repeatedly, then the ban can be permanent.

If the gif contained anything "unsavory", such as partial nudity or a curse word, that's also against forum rules.

Now, that being said, sometimes such instances can slide by if mods don't see it, nobody reports it, or if the mods on duty seeing it have a sense of humor towards it and let it lie. But doing so is always tempting fate... and doing so in a thread started by a BioWare employee and being actively monitored by BioWare employees (and the generic mods, I'm sure, as this is a hot and testy thread and so is probably on high mod alert), well, that's taking your forum life into your own hands, certainly.

I think its safe to assume this is now a nonsense free thread.

Oh good grief.

Call it whatever you will MileEnd, you obviously have your own agenda. Guessing you're not a PS3 or Xbox 360 user, at least in regards to DAI.

I feel sure BW is capable of running their own forums, and they at least have generally been quite reasonable.

If you don't want to post in a way that is conducive to a constructive conversation, then please consider not posting. There is a difference between articulating that you aren't happy with a company's decision and simply posting a gif, particularly one about money-grubbing Canadian devils.

You are welcome to voice displeasure with a decision, or to talk about how you feel about something as a gamer. That being said, please do so in a way that is respectful of others and that obeys our site rules.

And yes, I am well aware that some things are generally more lax in other threads or parts of the forum, but this thread is not the rest of the forum. I have politely asked you all to be respectful to the devs and one another. I will be handing out warnings and suspensions to people who are not able to abide by the site rules.

It was a gif about freemium gaming that is very similar to most of EA gaming structure with no nudity or offensive words in it.

Brewskin, I can see that you are an avid supporter of Dragon Age and probably was looking forward future DLC packs from Bioware. I am sure there are a lot of people like you out there who were looking forward to extended story DLC and that is why you follow the series in the first place.

People may say that you're "inciting" something, but they're going to be the ones who are crying bloody murder when support is dropped for their platforms... Which actually could be sooner than they think, judging by the decline in player numbers on the MP and the sales of the previous SP DLC.

I would suggest also posting this on the /r/DragonAge reddit and /r/DragonAgeCoOp reddit to see if there are others like you who have been affected by this.

@EASupport on twitter is probably prepared with a scripted response... So maybe other avenues like @EA and the EA facebook might be worth a try.

Even though you probably will not get more content, you should question why there is not gesture of goodwill from the company.

Say if I had played the Dragon Age and DLC and went to the PSN store right now, there is nothing informing me that support and future content has ended.

Understood, I will be sure to be constructive and informative on this thread.

I will continue to support all members who have been affected by this corporate level decision.

Yeah I guess I do. I just understand how difficult it can be to make the decision to cut support for an SKU, I can only imagine how difficult it is to communicate the decision to cut support for SKUs, so I can conclude that there is a good reason to do it.

At the very least I'll wait to see what's coming up to see if it was worth cutting old gen to get the new content.

It may have gotten buried on the other page, but if you are looking for the best avenue to direct any comments or complaints, then I would recommend that you to contact @dragonage on twitter and facebook, or contacting EA support directly. These are the appropriate places to encourage people to post, or send messages.

Posting on the official Dragon Age channels will be more likely to get you a response, than the EA twitter, for example. Also, please note that there is a profanity filter on the Facebook pages. As a standard policy we do not remove posts from Facebook unless they contain profanity, offensive content, or violate the site's terms of use.

Thanks Scene, much appreciated.

And you are right about my passion, I'm an old school gamer, started playing D&D when Nixon was in office for perspective, Chainmail before that, and owned and managed an old school game store for a decade and a half, before the internet and big box stores made it unfeasible.

Baldur's Gate made me a Bioware fan way back when, and since then I have purchased, and played nearly every title their name is on. I was leery when they were bought by EA, but have to admit that until now, my fears were unfounded by and large.

I greatly appreciate your suggestions, and the spirit in which they were offered. And they are definitely being pursued.

I am also a big fan of Baldur's Gate and BGII,  I remember playing them both at launch and all the DLC.

I suppose this is the reason I stuck with Dragon Age even through their most notable fall from grace.

I suppose a lot of us fans are always looking for that actual spiritual successor to BG... I definitely started to see glimpses of that in DA:I so It's a shame your story has been cut short until you buy the same game again on another platform.

Have you seen Pillars of Eternity or played any of the Witcher series yet? They are very similar to BG.

Also, did you know you can get BG for tablet and mobile now? Crazy right?

Yumi,

It is neither of our places to second guess who knew what when. I am merely stating an opinion that will hopefully reach the powers that be. Do I hold the devs responsible? I doubt they are since it means less work, however they can pass along the opinions on this page. I have had a longstanding gripe with EA however. Every gaming company that they ever took over that I enjoyed was ruined. So, I think posting my opinion here is the least I can do.

Now, do I think it even remotely honest to selectively pull support for a game they created because they find it too costly to maintain? Nope, sorry. It's not. They should swallow their losses on this one, and just plan on not producing anymore games for the 360 and PS3. It's not as if this is their only source of income. They just don't believe in good customer service, especially for "game of the year".

12 hours later, no direct response and avoidance of topic. Duly noted.

To everyone else:

This is not about whether you got your money's worth, forced upgrading, or whatever distraction topic you want to bring up. When you buy software, regardless if you spent $1 or $100,000, you usually have the option of buying warranty and product support with it. In many cases the warranty and product support is included in the cost of the purchase. Product support is just like a warranty. It's an agreement between you and the vendor done at the time of the sale that you will receive guarantees for your purchase (usually over a length of time). You don't get to change the rules midway through the process and most definitely without notification. Failure to meet those obligations or to address reasonable issues can be construed as a breach of warranty or non-performance (such as refusing to address technical or performance issues with patches). I'll just leave it at that.

This is where BioWare and I part ways.

You'll hear from them Monday when the people that matter hear about their new patch.

I believe BW/EA a very poor job with this and informing the player base of PS3/X360. Having said that it seems that BW/EA is continuing very poor job by being defensive and standing behind very opaque wall, overall a PR mess that truly makes me wonder. I am sure PR and Marketing department involvement could have soothed a lot of ruffled feathers.

The passion expressed by people are gamers who truly like your product, try not be adversarial and visa versa the posters should truly understand not to blame the messengers.

Am I terrible for looking on the bright side? Maybe Xbox One will get an influx of players from the 360?

Today I saw the true colors of Bioware

Spit in the face of their fans without a care

"The consoles are old" as they blacklisted a pair

That didn't stop them from charging $60 to the unaware

Didn't tell anyone the truth until we were in the snare

I thought Bioware was great because integrity is rare

Now they got me good and its beyond repair

I'm not going to whine about whats fair

I just want their butts so I can park my footwear

With regards to this point in particular, no, Billy is not the person you should be sending messages to with regards to this decision. He has come on these boards, as he has done in the past, in efforts to create more transparency and to address the community's concerns as best he can.

He is doing this of his own free will and in his spare time. Targetting developers who choose to take time to work with the community with mass mailing/messaging campaigns is not an appropriate way to get a response. In fact, it's a surefire way to scare someone away from wanting to talk to the community.

Billy and the multiplayer team are doing their best to be open and honest with you about these decisions, and are addressing what they can, when they can.

If you would like to make your thoughts known, I would encourage you to contact @dragonage on twitter and facebook, or contacting EA support directly. These are the appropriate places to encourage people to post, or send messages.

Billy and his team will still get your feedback when you submit it in this fashion, but it will be more manageable and comprehensive than personally inundating him with responses.

Thanks for understanding.

Speaking of transparency... why only tell players on this forum? That's only being transparent to a very small percentage of the PS3/Xbox360 player base. Not everyone checks these forums, or even know they exist.

It's completely unfair to the rest of the players that will continue to invest time and money in a game you no longer support for them, when you're not informing them of your decision to do so.

I applaud Brew's efforts to communicate this momentous news to the community of players he knows on PS3 and beyond. Bioware, you've done nothing to communicate the news beyond this forum. That's sad, and bad PR. You remain active on FB and Twitter, but nothing has been said on those mediums about this decision to kick us to the curb after we stuck it out for 8 months.
