do I need to do something to activate this?  3 matches and the maps have been the standard fare for me . . . .


You will probably need to restart MP or possibly DAI in order to get the new system running. It is certainly active now.

Black camera transition is there because the level was not built with zone 2 connected to zone 4, etc.  So we have to teleport your character to that area.

 

75 routes is a lot.  But it's just simple math.  A route consists of 5 zones, with zone 5 always being the boss room.  SO, if we take what a normal route is now, and randomize it for all possible combinations of zones, you get something like this.

 

How it was before.

Route 1 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) 

Route 2, (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Route 3, (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Route 4, (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Route 5, (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) [Destruction]

 

How it is now.

Route 1 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Route 1 (4, 3, 2, 1, 5)

Route 1 (3, 2, 4, 1, 5)

Route 1 (1, 3, 2, 4, 5)

Route 1 (1, 4, 2, 3, 5)

Route 1 (1, 2, 4, 3, 5)

Route 1 (1, 4, 2, 3, 5)

etc

etc

etc

Now do the same for the other 4 routes...

Also if its not working for you quit DAI and restart it.  Usually that's needed for the server to reset on your client.

 

Forgot to add to my post, that example is just one tileset, so repeat the whole process for each tileset, (tevinter, orlais, elvan)

Nope.

What's happening is that if you get a particular route of Elven Ruins for example, Instead of the order of the zones being 1,2,3,4,5 it could be swapped with 2,3,4,1,5. The end zone will always be the same boss encounter location, but now you can end up fighting enemies that normally do not appear in a particular area of the dungeon. Or you could encounter an event in a location that never used to allow it to appear.

 

Just to make sure I'm on the right page here, events still trigger in zones 2 & 4, even if they're now 1 & 3?

 

that made more sense in my head but it's late & I can't be bothered to re-word it.

Yes.  They still trigger on the 2nd and 4th zones you go to.  The zones actually loaded in, however, may be what were previously reserved for the other zones.

 

Having played a few games, I like the variability.  I did notice though, that the transitions did not fire consistently for the games.  One game had no change of zone order, and thus no transition effect.  The other games had transition effects.  Also, it was rather funny that you seemed to be dropped down into the beginning of the new zone.  I mean literally dropped, since your characters are often in a post drop crouch and sometimes even grunt when they fall.

 

On the other hand, had my first instance of an double gold, double xp glitched lobby.  I wasn't aware that this was an issue on PC.  Thought it was a problem restricted to consoles.  Not sure how to reproduce the error, and closed the lobby right afterwards.  I was hosting, after a host migration.  The doubling didn't take effect until a game or two after the migration, iirc.

Any one on Xbox One seeing this yet? I have restarted twice and played a ton of matches...still no changes unless it is a more subtle effect than I am imagining.

Got the door transition a few times tonight but the maps were always in the usual order. Funny how the characters grunt the way they do after a fall after the door animation.

They do fall, we just took away any damage in that moment. Some levels are at a different height, so sometimes they "fall" into the teleport.

Also, the original routes are still there so every now and then you'll get them with no transition.

It's not a whole new map, but it definitely is a vast improvement - even for potential new maps, too, I shall hope.

 

I'm intrigued.

Sorry to hear you've encountered the double xp bug though, I'm still thinking as I'm yet to encounter it, that Euro-zone PS4 is clean, here's hoping.

I experienced some bug on FC run earlier today (related to new camera thingie"

someone opened the door to "dragon stage" while I was pulling a lever to exit from treasure room (4/5) and my character was teleported to some "leftover geometry" under the level - luckily when I jumped to the "abyss" I was teleported to starting spawn (where I was supposed to teleport earlier)

in few runs I did didn't notice any changes to maps but I must say that camera animation was slightly annoying and looking noobish (I think you could have done better job with it XD)

Underwhelmed at this but at the same time I appreciate the effort it must have taken to do this.

 

I thought the levels were fine.  Wasn't needed.

 

There is more content coming which makes me even happier than I already am.

It's a nice change. I played the old routes so many times i could probably play them blindfolded. At least now confusion strikes every so often when you pop out of a door you normally associate with a treasure room.
