This web article suggests next-gen DAI be offered to last-gen customers for half price.

http://www.bidnesset...les-an-ethical/

"We, at Bidness Etc feel the move is unethical, because owners of last gen consoles who paid for the game were also naturally looking forward to the DLCs. Given this decision, it would have been more proper that half the price of the game had been charged, or users made aware that all future DLCs would be available for next gen consoles only."

The pressure is on now though... This next story DLC better be fantastic and take full advantage(all the bells and whistles) of being exclusively on current gen systems.

If they release a DLC that could've been handled by the PS3 or 360, like Jaws of Haakon, they deserve to be taken to task for the decision to drop support.

I am going to answer this comment.

If you are expecting the next to be insane compared to what is already out, then likely you will already be disappointed. The reason for this, is DLC is generally content change with a bit of code change (it used to be on last-gen that it had to be content only, because it was required your DLC ran on the shipped version of the game, not the patched version). While the industry works to move away from this I expect we can see different DLC but simply speaking that change will not be instantaneous.

Regardless of that, you still have to consider something like PC, we have minspec requirements to consider. So you cant push the envelope that far.

Next ill state there is other things to consider, something like you have to tie your content into the exist game in some sense, not all DLC can be self contained. Take something like a new piece of armor, if that thing has a new VFX then you could be putting additional memory load on your already streached sections of the game, even though it is something introduced by the DLC. On a minspec PC if you run out of memory the game can start paging to the hard drive, you might get performance problems but the game wont crash. Do you think something like this exists for both last-gen systems?

How about empathy from fellow players, that Bioware is now providing tiered levels of service?  Some paying customers are getting higher levels of service than others.  Of course, this started way back with the JoH timed exclusive, but it seems to be going into overdrive now...

We may "suspect" Bioware is sorry, but have we even been given an official reason for dropping lastgen platforms?

An "official" response no, but I do weigh in on the topic and many other things here

I've seen you popping up everywhere recently. Thanks for taking the time to interact with the forums. I hope it lasts for fairly long before you become bitter and disillusioned., *grins*

Its more I come and go as I feel, my post count shows I am not one who is easily swayed :P

And what of Backwards compatibility?  Didn't that get announced at E3?  Should DA:I get added to that list, then all that is needed is buying a new system, right? (Granted, PS players will still be rightfully angry unless/until they get the same)

I'm not saying the anger & frustration are unwarranted, but.....

I don't think backwards compatibility helps here as it is still the xb360 codebase. It won't accept xb-one patches and DLC.
Although if Bryan says otherwise, I will happily read and learn.

From the releases I have seen Xb1 backwards compatability does not allow for (currently) 1. Installed discs (which Disc 1 is for DAI) 2. DLC 3. Multi-disk (which is also DAI)

Ah yes, those of us who don't like this decision should just pack up our stuff and go away. We shouldn't be allowed to express our opinions, only the people sucking up to Bioware should be allowed here.

Gotcha.

(also, your point about people being mad if Bioware didn't release DAI for old gen in the first place? ME:A is Xbone/PS4/PC only and there doesn't seem to be a ton of outrage about it, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yeah.)

A year after launch of a next-gen consoles vs even 2 years (which we are at now) is a pretty substantial difference in terms of player expectations.

Just out of curiousity, as I've been posting above, on PC, through Origin, the game is already mine, and I can download it on whatever machine I like. Is this not true for Xbox or PS users? Can they not just download the game again from Origin if they have a registered copy (and an internet connection, which I thought the new gen consoles have?)

If they bought it digitally it is forever tied to their account, if they bought it on a disc it is forever tied to that disc (there is no such thing as a code in the disc version, except deluxe content which would be tied to the account and not the disc)
