Obviously "force" is too strong a word, but if they didn't want customers to buy the game again why would they go to the trouble of creating a save importer or make the JoH a dual purchase?

Trying to get customers to buy the game a second time wasn't the reason for the decision and I don't think anyone is arguing that it is, but saying they don't want people to do it at all just isn't realistic.

That would be the "free brownie", I suppose, if you want to keep using that analogy. Or perhaps they realized that, since we are still on the cusp of a change in console generations, a lot of their fans ARE going to be changing over to the current gen and might want to buy the game on current gen. As such, Bioware went out of their way to make it easier for them to do so.

I dont get the fast food comparisons.

It would be more like....you paid $3 for a burger and you got your burger, but you thought someone was going to add a pickle because everyone before you got a pickle, but technically it's not on the ingredient list and they were all just being nice before by giving out the pickles. They suggest another sandwich for $6 that has a lot of pickles on it for you to buy next time.

...or something. Now I want a pickle.

Technically it would be the opportunity to pay for a pickle, rather than a free included pickle.

But whatever, pickles are gross anyway. ;)

Well except it's not just everyone before you in line who got the pickle, but everyone who has visited the restaurant for nearly a decade.  And tehy strongly implied you'd get a pickle too.  And heck past pickles have been very popular ("Lair of the Shadow Pickle"), seen as vital to the story (such as the infamous Mass Effect 3's "From Pickles" or have helped complete stories (Like Dragon Age's "Pickle Hunt")

A little off-topic but also somewhat related.

Another company just cancel a last gen game. WB & NRS have cancel Mortal Kombat X for PS360.

http://shoryuken.com...-been-canceled/

They cancelled the release of Mortal Kombat X and took a financial hit rather than release a poor quality version.

Of course, this could all be easily avoided if people just came to the light, joined the PC master race, and stopped holding gaming back. :P

Never gonna happen.

So that they could keep their saves. It's amazing how doing something for someone's benefit gets twisted into a dick move.

I think you're misunderstanding my point by taking that post out of context. I'm glad there's a save importer. What I said was in response to another poster saying that Bioware doesn't want the player to buy a new copy of the game. My response was that making a save importer presupposes the player will in fact have multiple game copies, so it isn't really logical to argue Bioware never intended for it to happen. It wasn't a criticism of the save importer, it was using the save importer as an example to explain why I didn't think the other poster's assumption was accurate.

Apropos of this, it seems Trespasser is the real ending of DAI, the ending the original game should have had, and basically last gen won't get it.

I've already upgraded to next-gen and after playing the dlc, I can safely say the argument that dlc isn't needed to finish the game is BS. This is clearly meant to be the true ending to Inquisition and creates major plot points for the next game.

Pretty much this. Though a lot of my dissatisfaction with DAI is because of creative and technical decisions, it felt like Bioware was planning on making the actual ending DLC. And they did. It makes me wonder if DAI is what they were actually intending with ME3 - release an ending with a ton of plot holes still unresolved, and then charge for the actual ending later on.

At any rate, this just kicks up DAI to a whole other level. I haven't regretted a game purchase to this extent in a long, long time.

I'm not surprised by this, really. Many of the Bioware supporters told us that we paid for the game and got what we paid for, so we shouldn't be upset. Of course, I'm sure those people would be upset if they couldn't get the ending to the main game as last-genners are now facing. But luckily for the defenders and Bioware, enough time has occurred since the last-gen drop announcement that it has been forgotten by most of the community (and/or they just really don't care). It's good marketing on Bioware's part, make the bad news announcement (hidden in a "good news" PR piece) months in advance, release non-story critical DLC after that (Descent) and THEN release the actual main game important epilogue DLC once the community has forgotten about this. Now everyone focuses on the final DLC and ignores the fact that some players don't have access to this.

Let's face it, they have been using the old gens consoles as scapegoats for everything that was wrong with this game since the beginning so as to get the others (PC/new gens) worked up and ready to jump on us as soon as we started complaining about our bugs not been fixed and the moment the drop was announced. We should have taken the initial silence as a sign of what was really behind the release on the old gens (sales booster tactic prior to important share holder meeting) and returned our copies 'cause they are effectively defective and unfinished products. Lesson learned, never take bioware words at face value, I only wish that I hadn't had to pay £54 for it though...

BTW who's to blame now for all the bugs, loading times and glitches that are in the last two dlc? And the fact that they only now released the real ending to the game, is that acceptable or is OK because is on the new gens? Thoughts?
