I'm not feeling the protagonist voice all that much. It's like he is sounding crispy for the sake of crispy.

Come at me, bros!

I liked Mafia 2 well enough but it felt a bit too formulaic and not particularly remarkable in terms of storytelling that it happened to be so proud of at the time. More or less, it felt like your average Scorsese film, a retread of Goodfellas if you will, where the plot goes exactly where you think it goes with the usual "Crime does not pay" lesson as the credits roll.

It was a bit unnecessarily padded with dull routines of having to drive your fat bloke of a friend home all the time, like the gameplay was segregated from the development of the plot. The sandbox served little else than being pretty scenery for the game, as wide as the city was, it was also dull and uninteresting because it didn't serve much more than being the rails for the driving to the next mission objective.

If less emphasize had been placed less on trying to make the game feel like office work, by having a standard issue open world feature, and more on having a straight-forward story, then I think it would ultimately have been a strong game. Maybe Mafia 3 will learn from that.

Too bad... I really wanted a sequel for what happened to Joe and Vitto after that Cliffhanger ending we got on the Second game...

Back me up Vito!

It's probably GTA V that has skewered things for me a bit but the physics in the gameplay trailer is off the charts, like it's channeling Saints Row or something. The shooting seems stiff, and unreal, then you have the jumping out of cars where the collision and impact seems.. somewhat tame, incredibly sensitive-exploding-cars not withstanding.

I thought Mafia II was an abomination after the masterpiece that was the original game so I'm not putting any hope that this game will be good. Hopefully I'll be surprised when it is released but those first videos didn't make a good impression.

I feel the Mafia games should be focused more on the 30´s - 50´s with the overcoats, old cars and tommy guns. And old music. 1968 is too close to GTA series.

Was it Mafia II you rescue some chick from bad guys and the next minute you are in her apartment about to do that mattress mamba?

Here's a read up on it:

You can execute enemies in a lot of vicious ways, such as jamming a shotgun into their face or guts and pulling the trigger.
