Party members leave with all their stuff. I thought we were past party members taking all their stuff with them when I got blackwalls stuff back.
Apparently Solas really likes dragon gear and that cooldown amulet. Losing the gear was fine but your not taking that amulet in 1 million years wolfy. I never got why party members who leave on good terms take everything with them.
So it's 2015 and still (end game spoilers)

There comes a time, near the end of the game, where I start letting Solas run around in his long johns and with a very crummy staff, because his leaving with my good stuff irks me so much.

I've taken Solas to the end fight enough times. Now he gets to sit at Skyhold in his humble rags while Dorian takes the accolades as the spirit mage who helped save the world.

Solas only gets seconds. Sometimes I will craft something specifically with him in mind. But I don't put the best masterworks or runes on it.

I craft all my companions their own gear, so he left with what I crafted for him.

After the first time, Solas finishes the game in his underwear.
Now watch, the next story DLC will depend on Solas rescuing the protagonist from some predicament and to do so, he'll need to rely on the gear he was wearing when he left. I'd be so screwed.

maybe i'm just weird but even in origins i take everyones stuff away from them all the time. even in origins Jory and Davith? the other recruits at ostagar always did the joining buck ass naked. just a habit i have after morrigan left with my favorite staff in my first play through in DAO.

LOL - nah. Bioware does not have that kind of humor

It's not just you. Poor Jory and Davith lost everything they owned once they met my human noble.
And they did the joining in their undies. ![]()

Actually come to think of it, I think they did this on purpose.
The final DLC for DAI where the Inquisitor confront Solas:
Dragon Age Inquisition: Thief Hunt
Solas: Why have you followed me Inquisitor, there are things I must do and I dont wish you to be an enemy.
Inquisitor: I trusted you and I love you Solas, you know that. You left without a word, you deserted the Inquisition. I dont mind, I forgive you....
Solas: Then why are you here?
Inquisitor: You.... stole from me. Your armor, your staves, your hat, your boots, your gloves! That is where I draw the line. Do you know how long I farmed for those darn fade-touch materials!?!? God or whatever, now you'd wish that you never woke up.

Be thankful at least now they have the courtsesy to leave after the battle
I still remember in DAO AListair and Morrigan left with all the gears before the final battle (values more than 100 sovereign),thank you both,i was left with a poor denuded Loghain to deal with Archdemon, only to suffer later Alistair royal smile at the post coronation.
