Will DA4 have adults with children's voices? They havn't dont that combo yet.
children voices in games usually disturb me. the little one with cricket (was he cricket or cricket was the older one?) anyway he had a ridiculous deep voice for what looked like a 10 year old. i always laugh whenever i replay da2 and hear that kid speak.
As long as they have voice acting better than Kieran, that's be great.

I'm pretty sure he (the younger one) was the fellow who voiced most of the children in DAO (like Bevin), except he was going through puberty by DA2.
I think he's a good voice actor, myself, but puberty is a very unfortunate inevitability for those who start young. Anyway, if DAI Connor is still done by the same voice actor, then we're hearing him post-puberty, and he sounds great. Still young enough to play a teenager or even a young adult, but they'd have to find someone else to do kids' voices now. They could use Kieran's voice actor, but he still needs a bit of work.
I'm curious where the other boy who voiced the younger boys in DAO has gone. Maybe focusing on life? He sounded young enough that he still might not be at the puberty stage, and his acting was surprisingly decent for someone so young, and he should be a lot better now that's he's older. They should try getting him back, if possible.
On a side note, I'm pretty sure the first fellow I was talking about also voiced Gwyndolin from Dark Souls!
Hopefully this won't become a thread like on Bethesda where people begged the programmers to have children NPCs killable.

You can always kill them using a mod you know.
Was anyone else really hoping the Inquisitor would get a squire?

Was there really any begging? Or was it just from the console peasants?
Mods alleviated that irksome itch.
Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure no one's asked Bioware to make their children killable. Some are slightly annoying, but because they're so minor and few and far between, I doubt anyone really wanted to kill them. People only wanted Skyrim (and Fallout) kids killable because Bethesda makes really annoying children. Most people, do, in fact. Kudos to Bioware for somehow not making kids needlessly annoying. At least both companies have kids voice the kids, instead of grown-ass adults voicing them. [Shudder]
I welcome the return of The Children.
Quoting for Arachnophobes
Schadenfreude Coffee with my games.
Wasn't Kieran voiced by Black's own son? Or am I being a stupid?

That's correct, he was. ![]()

Lol, I almost thought that little elf that you wake up to in Haven was going to be a squire or something initially.
Yes?

That would be cool. I also think they need to have more than 1 body type for each race/gender. I know it would be a development burden, but it would be awesome to see some more variety of people. See an overweight female elf in a town walk next to a skinny male Qunari... Lol.

The problem with child actors is that most of them are terrible, especially in voice acting.
Though with video games, they don't always need actual children, see Melissa Hutchison's work as Clementine in the walking dead.

Oh, I loved Clementine both in the voice acting and writing of the character.
How my children protect me! How they love me! "The Mother said before to die...."

His voice acting was fine, the size of his model not by any means,at time he was more taller than his mother on the screen.

His voice acting sounded like flat mumbling into the microphone to me, his model was a bit too tall for his voice though I don't recall him ever looking taller than his mother.
Well it does feel weird exploring an immersive world with no children in it.

I'd like to see more children as well. In particular, we've yet to see any dwarven or qunari children. I'm not sure the elven ones we've seen really count, since as far as I could tell they were just human kids with pointy ears. But it would be interesting to see aspects of family life in Thedas.

Most are, yes. But the fellow who voiced Connor and Bevin and the others was actually great, except he's now too old to voice anyone younger than a teenager. The boy who voiced Mayor MacCready in Fallout 3 is good, too.
I think good acting, for the most part, has to come naturally, and that's why it's hard to find kids who can act well. Adults are easier because even if they aren't very good naturally, they've had enough time to take acting classes, at least. If they can't find decent kids, there are plenty of young-sounding teenagers out there of no small talent. I'm just tired of listening to adult women voice kids of either gender, unless they can actually be convincing. Clementine was good, I agree.
Although, it is still preferable to that one time they had what sounded like a middle-aged man voice the little boys in Deus Ex. My God, did he have the least appropriate voice ever. At least they were killable, though...
I follow the dictates of a simpler time. As long as they're seen and not heard, children are wonderful.
The trouble comes when they are in the protagonist's missions, often ending up as Mary Sues, or the source of some vexing unpleasantness they can't be held accountable for, or just annoying in general.
Kieran is fairly inoffensive for a child character though, aside from the bizarre camera angle the cinematographer chose for the initial conversation which has undertones of hypnosis.
