I was listening to my completely random playlist today and I was wondering about songs that mesh well with the different characters in the DA series. This was mainly brought on by Massive Attack's Tear Drop coming on and I thought it would be a brilliant song for Cole. It just works well, with his character.

*Edit: Ah, that seemed to do the trick. Got the youtube embed to work..*

I also though Simon and Garfunkel's Sound of Silence was weirdly appropriate for Solas.

So I was wondering if there are any other songs that remind you of DA characters. Perhaps we can even compile our own definitive DA playlist.

Sera's writer, Lukas Kristjanson, has already said this for her:

Can't really argue...

Spoiler

I really like this for Solas.

For Cole, I imagine anything from the Mushishi soundtrack. It is touching and mysterious, and the Mushi are somewhat similar to spirits.

Lovely, haunting and a bit creepy. Yup, that's a good one for Cole.

Frickin love that song. I knew there was something I liked about Sera.  :D

I figured Varric might be best served by some Johnny Cash. Maybe Highwayman, due to it's story telling quality. Or "A Boy Named Sue", he'd appreciate the humor. Or just anything from Johnny Cash.

Cassandra is a hard one. Maybe something hopelessly soppy and more than a bit cheesey, like her love of Swords and Shields. Hmmm, I'll have to think of a good one. There's far too many sloppy, cheesey love songs out there, the choice is overwhelming.

Bonnie Tyler's "Holding our for a Hero" seems simultaneously appropriate and wildly inappropriate to an almost ironic degree for Cassandra. It's about the cheesiest song ever, and obviously a hero is something she's perfectly capable of being without help from any man...

Oh my god. I've never seen the video for this song. Bonnie Tyler and her utterly ridiculous videos. That one's as good as Total Eclipse of the Heart. Love the glow stick whips. Were all her music video directors high when they came up with the concepts?

Well it was the early 80s. I think to an extent people were still trying to figure out exactly what a music video should be... ;)

Talking of Simon and Garfunkel, this one sort of fits for Blackwall...

Can't speak to the first song, but Sound of Silence does fit Solas.

Always thought that with a little tweaking a "Kiss from a Rose" can become "Given a Rose (by the Grey)" for Alistair.

That is lovely. :) Haunting and wistful and calming at the same time, very appropriate. Instrumental music suits him.

I haven't read Asunder, but going by what I know about his lost and miserable existence then, I think Bruce Springsteen's Streets of Philadelphia sounds like a painfully fitting match:

I've been waiting for an opportunity to share some of my Solas songs, and here it is...finally.

God Says Nothing Back performed by The Wallflowers...It also reminds me of Corypheus, but those two actually have a bit in common.

Truth Serum performed by Dishwalla...This one seems especially fitting if your Inquisitor romanced him.

Conversation Piece performed by David Bowie (Toy/Heathen bonus track version) This song makes me think of Solas going off by himself after his personal quest.

That is all.

This is really nice.

For romanced Solas, I can think of "Losing my religion"

EDIT: How could I forget "Soldier of Fortune"? It's one of my favorite songs and I think it fits those two very well.

This one by the Levellers works quite well for Oghren...

Also this one sort of, although I don't think he's a violent drunk...

Yeah, I hadn't even considered Springsteen. You wouldn't think it would work and then you hear the lyrics and it clicks very well.

For me, my ultimate Solasmancer song is still Sara McLachlan's Possession. It just brings the feels and keeps them there.

Alright, for a challenge, what about a character like Loghain? Anyone able to think of a song that can nail that conflicted bugger down.

I see one for us Solasmancers. It's by a French singer and Celtic harp player from Brittany called Cécile Corbel. She's not very well known yet so I didn't find a very good quality video...
It's in French so I "translated" it, just to give an idea of what it says.

"To be continued"

Separated lovers get lost where the wind brings thunder storms. Where what is unsaid, what is hidden, is to be read between the lines.

I asked wise men, I searched in the books, but I found nothing.
And at the final page of our story, I wrote “to be continued”.
At the edge of land, I waited for the rain to come.

Where the waves break silence, love philtres and jealousies, I will hunt for strange Gods and hunt down all the dragons of the island.

I asked wise men, I searched in the books, but I found nothing.
And at the final page of our story, I wrote “to be continued”.
At the edge of land, I waited for the rain to come.

Lyrics in French for those interested in the spoiler below

Song starts at 0:43 (didn't find the way to embed the vid at the correct minute... NOOB SPOTTED)

Cassandra or Aveline, I can't decide which one, it fits them both:

Hawke... I know it's not an NPC, but no matter how you play him/her, I feel this song fits quite well:

And one for Dwarves in Orzammar...

Oooh, French Solasmance music! It's very beautiful.

There's also Je T'aime by Lara Fabian that I think fits very well. Translation under spoiler tag and it's not mine, googled it...

Loghain from the POV of people other than Loghain.

---

Loghain doesn't want to be a soldier with a captain on a sinking ship, and he certainly believes that Cailan's an idiot.
